Re: Diff between Speed diesel, Xtra premium diesel and regular diesel

Well, I have used premium petrol in my first car santo since the time it was introduced sometime in 2001, the car did 105000 km without any engine issues and it is still going strong with the new owners and is at around 180k km without any engine issues.

Bought Scorpio CRDE in sep 2005 and never filled anything in it other than premium diesel for all of its 125000 km that I did and never experienced any engine issues.

Rather whenever I could not get hold of premium fuel in long drives I have always felt a sluggishness in the vehicle with non-premium fuel, though I have never checked mileage as such as I was more interested in giving the engine a longer life as that gives me a better feeling. Each time I sold a vehicle I have got rave reviews from the mechanic who the buyer bought in seeing the engine condition and it always got sold to the first buyer without fail each time and for better price. The scorpio buyers mechanic even was surprised to see the odometer reading of 125k km as the engine looked in a much better shape, of course it might also have a lot to do with the driving style, but then what burns inside also matters.

So I swear by premium fuel or regular fuel with additives, this is from my experience of 12 years of running various brands of vehicles, technologically I don't have much knowledge in this, neither do I want to get confused.

Re: Diff between Speed diesel, Xtra premium diesel and regular diesel

I had a Honda Jazz CVT petrol and can verify that using premium petrol used to improve the pickup and engine response quite handsomely. There was only a slight improvement in FE though.
With premium diesel, my experience had not been so great. There was no noticeable improvement in driving dynamics or FE whenever I tried using premium diesel for my Ertiga ZDI. After a few attempts, I settled for regular diesel from selected pump.

What I am unsure of is how premium diesel fares vis-a-vis LNT or SCR based devices in modern small diesel engines like the 1.5 LTR D in Hyundai Creta / Alcazar. Is it advisable to try premium diesel and after how many Kms run-in if yes?

Looking for expert opinion/ advice.

No expert, but I remember seeing a warning note in the user manual of either my Getz 1.5 CRDi (D4FA) or the Verna 1.6 CRDi (D4FB - U2) to not use premium Diesel or additives - forgetting which one as it's been a while.

I also remember discussing here in TBHP that similar warnings were in other manufacturer's manuals too (Punto? Again, not sure).

Better check your car's manual or/ and with your service center.

I know you are a Alcazar owner and would advise against premium diesel. Even if you are planning Shell, stick to normal diesel.

There is one Carens owner who has used Xtragreen and has had any negative effect yet. So should be ok. Although neither Carens nor Alcazar manual says anything about using B7 diesel explicitly.

Carens' manual has the following:

Quote:
Diesel fuel
Diesel engines must be operated only on
commercially available diesel fuel that
complies with EN 590 or comparable
standard. (EN stands for "European
Norm").
and EN 590 compliant fuel allows the blending of up to 7% bio-fuel.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EN_590).

Quote:
Diesel B7 is a fuel with added biocomponents of up to 7%, which meets the requirements of the European diesel standard EN590

IOCL doesn't say that XtraGreen is EN 590 compliant. But they say it has 7% bio-fuel. (https://twitter.com/indianoilcl/stat...451393?lang=en)

I found it better.

Re: Diff between Speed diesel, Xtra premium diesel and regular diesel

Hi guys i want to mention something here.

My skoda rapid 1.5 TDI engine has become noisy from past one year or so. Until now the skoda dealership claimed its the tyre noise. However upon using Amsoil diesel injector cleaner and other liqui moly additives i realised it was not the tyre noise. The engine becomes super silent upon their use as they lubricate the upper piston rings which i guess are running low on lubrication due to reduced sulphur (lubricant) in bs6 fuel. Hence the noise has increased.

The car mostly ran in Chandigarh where adultrated fuel is also constantly monitored by authorities. So that possibility is ruled out. If the premium diesel somehow contains some lubricating agent along with cleaning agent just like the ones found in liqui moly and amsoil products. Then premium diesel should be worth it???

What do u guys think about that

There is a noticeable difference when I use Turbojet vs regular diesel. The car does feel smoother, the engine does feel more peppy and the engine noise does reduce so it is possible that premium diesel has lubricating along with cleaning agents.
I noticed something very similar with my grandmother’s i10. It’s a petrol car and it kept stalling at 1st gear. The clutch had been recently replaced. It so happens that she put bad gas into the car from a relatively shady petrol pump. When I filled it with XP95 the stalling issues disappeared completely. To counter the remaining bad fuel which was already in the car I added liqui moly petrol additive and ever since then the issue hasn’t come back.

Difference between regular diesel and diesel with additive (Xxtramile, Turbojet, Ultimate, Premium

Would like to know your experience with different diesel brands.

Sharing my experience I had with my Fortuner.

- Regular diesel
More or less same experience with all companies like HP, BP, IOC, and Shell. Engine is noisy and requires frequent DPF regeneration. No difference with a company owned pump. The worst experience I had in Goa with a HP pump, engine became very noisy.

- Diesel with additives
1. IOC Xtramile
While IOC pumps are shabbily maintained, their Xtramile was good. Noticeable difference in the engine noise. It was running much smoother. DPF regeneration was less. A few points improvement in the mileage figure.

2. HP Turbojet
More or less similar to Xtramile, but I would rate Xtramile bit higher for now. My opinion may change after experiencing it on different roads and in different driving conditions. I have even tried their regular diesel with separately provided additives but no major difference.

3. BP Ultimate
Not yet tried

4. Shell Premium
Have tried the regular one but not Premium yet. Regular one was no different than PUC oil companies.

5. Reliance
No pump nearby my house, very difficult to find one. could not try it yet but heard it's good than PUC companies.

Re: Diff between Speed diesel, Xtra premium diesel and regular diesel

I stopped using fancy diesel for the past six months and regularly using normal diesel from HP coco old airport road. My buddy Vento TDI is much peppy and happier than ever.
