Well, we have booked a Duster 85 RXL back in Nov and are awaiting delivery. If the current price hike is too much, Dad is considering cancelling the booking. So my 2nd preference is the Verna 1.6 EX CRDI A/T. I tried searching for reviews on the forum but couldn't find any. Main questions for owners:

1. How is the driveability in city and highway? I don't mind if the gearshift isn't superquick, but I hate waiting for it and :ZZZ:as a result.
2. Is the 4-speed box sufficient for highway use? (I've driven the manual and she was quick).
3. What's the avg FE its returning?
4. Lastly, is there any facelifted or upgraded model lurking around the corner? I don't mind waiting for 2-3 months.

Hi, I would suggest you ask the dealer for some existing customers for reference. Speak to them and get a direct feed back. Most Hyundai Verna owners seem to prefer small posts in this thread rather than individual ownership threads.

Normally we see face-lifts come after 3-4 years. Hence do not expect any significant changes in the next 1-2 years.

I went some posts recently on this thread. I am aware that Hyundai is replacing the Coil springs of 2011 cars.

Can anyone confirm if the late 2012/early 2013 models are coming with the updated springs?

A fortnight back I had visited the Service Centre & asked exactly the same question to SA. He told current cars are coming with the same set up as my 2011 model & there has been no change to the springs.

Can some one confirm, if only the front two tires are upgraded to 205/55/16, will it pose any problem??

So does that mean that one would have to buy a 2013 model and then get the spring coils replaced from Hyundai as soon as they get the car?
Is it possible?

The SA also informed that from March/April-2013 batch, there will be some up-gradation/stiffening of the springs. Not sure how true it is. However, you can always change springs of the existing car with new ones, cost@ 600/- per spring excluding labour. If bargained hard, those are replaced under warranty. Some bhpians have done this under warranty & then the car has become much better. There is also a tsb issued by Hyundai on this issue, which service centres are readily accepting. Talk to your dealer & update us.

I don't understand the suspension issue with many owners here really. I got a 2012 Verna a few months back and the suspension feels very normal.

It's a soft tuned suspension and I get a loud thud noise only if I go over really bad pot holes. Now how is this a problem ? It would happen to any softly tuned suspension , Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Also if anyone has seen any improvement after changing their stock suspension from the dealer under warranty do let me know.

As far as I know, owners here changed their suspension to reduce/get rid of the bouncy ride & improve the handling by replacing with supposedly stiffer springs.

Have these owners fitted after market springs or revised stock springs from their dealers under / without warranty ?

It would be helpful to me and other owners if you could point me to the right thread if this is discussed elsewhere. Thanks.

The last I heard from other forums is that Hyundai are planning to introduce revised stiffer springs/suspensions around March 2013. I do not know how true this is or if they will replace current owners suspensions under warranty.

I've driven my car for like just 2500 Kms till now and find that the suspension is more than adequate for our really poor roads down south. So whether I need to replace my springs / suspension is doubtful if it'll spoil the soft ride quality.

I did read about couple of owners changing suspension from Hyundai under warranty. If I am NOT wrong, this is discussed in the very same thread. You might need to revisit the last couple of pages.

We bought our Verna CRDi AT around November. Last month, our car claimed it's first victim when someone sitting in the back seat got sick, asked to stop the car immediately, jumped out and threw up!

Decent. But you WILL wait for gearshifts on the highway while overtaking. This ain't no DSG.

If you want to make brisk progress, yes. Keep the engine boiling. If you want to cruise, do't do it between 60-70 because it will keep shifting between 3rd and 4th. 90-100 kmph is the best. BUT it is NOT fuel efficient by any yardstick. I haven't managed more than 15-16 kmpl. If I'm thrashing it, it can go down to 12-13 kmpl.

8-10 kmpl in the city. Highway figures as mentioned above.

Any info regarding this ?

That's the korean version of the current fluidic Verna. Was launched at same time as the one in India.
