Re: Less is More - VW Jetta Highline MT Not updated for a long time.
2021 saw limited use. Feeling very smug and with a wad in my pocket, I decided to treat myself to an upgrade. My upgrades were north of Rs 50lakhs for not much more so I decided to keep it. Preowned options were disappointing or the owners behaviour was disappointing.
Early November saw it get a serviced. Decided to change the windscreen and timing belt. It was discovered the radiator pump was also leaking do it was replaced. The wheels were looking grubby so I got the rims straightened and repainted in gunmetal with a brown tint.
It looked gangster!
We took it on a trip to Hampi and it was effortless as if it never had aged.
After driving a nutty tuned BMW 328i to Belgaum and back, I was still tempted to look and was considering a well kept 320d but it was still a compromise. Beige interiors, out moded Bluetooth. Tyres and suspension would need work so I made an offer but was kept hanging ( what is it with BMW owners - they think their car is the best thing since sliced bread).
To cut a long story short. Fellow mod Vid pointed me to an ad in our classified. Was in the middle of an audit but had 6 missed calls. The deal looked promising and in reality was compelling and so I bought the replacement!
Alas, back to back, the Jetta was more engaging car to drive but I could not justify keeping both so I put it up for sale. Due to COVID in the family and later myself. I had to delay the sale but I found a very decent buyer who met my target price and I let it go on Republic day. As I speak, he is doing justice and taken it on a long road trip.
The car served me well and I wish the same for the new owner.
