This certainly seems like good value - when seen in isolation.

Honda is offering good discounts on the Amaze now - one could probably take the discount and put the accessories on their own.

Is this new Privilege variant available in the CVT option?

Nope. It is MT only as far as I can tell. But CVT with the package would have been a killer.

Pretty simple. City is a class apart compared to Amaze. Even with the features list being the same, the ride and feel in City is something different which Amaze cannot match and do not want to as well I believe.

If its only features list, then we would not have Merc's or Audi's, an over exageration I know.. but its like that. "No offences"

I would have endorsed this opinion may be in 2014, that is before the launch of the fourth generation City!
But the fourth generation City, is a model plagued with multiple issues. The ride quality is no where near the third generation City.

So if you discount the 1.5L iVTEC, there is nothing really aspirational in the fourth generation City! The Diesel engine comparo is much worse off, with City just getting an additional gear ratio! Its the same noisy motor in both Amaze and City.

Talking of what would differentiate the City more would have been, better overall quality, better interiors and a better specced diesel engine!

One dealer tells me that he has an Amaze S CVT 2016 model in his yard and is willing to give a lakh rupees discount on that.

Does it make sense to go ahead with it? If so, what should be the correct price?

Lying in his yard means it is either a demo car or has been used by his employees as their unofficial ride for that much time. Also it's still a 2016 car when it comes to resale even if you register it now

Even if you get more discounts the car is going to be heavily abused and all signs of the abuse hastily concealed. Don't touch it.

Completed 80000 km service about 2 months back. No other work was performed apart from regular service. Total bill came to rs 5250.

Last week all of a sudden battery died. There was no symptom of weak battery, in fact just a month back it passed test with flying colors. Called my SA to know the correct battery size, it's 55 ah for diesel version.

Replaced it with amaron pro, costed rs 5100 after exchange.

Need some advise regarding Honda's 0W20 full synthetic oil for their petrol engines. From the owners manual i understand that 0W20 grade can be used where the ambient temp is 0 or below. Till now I've been using the 5W30 grade. But last time when i visited SVC for a periodic service, the advisor told me about the FS oil, it's pros and that it is available at a very reasonable cost. I was pretty impressed as i always wanted to use a FS engine oil as I drive occasionally with the vtec kicked in (above 4.5K revs). Still i sticked to the 5W30 mineral that time.

I have the next service due very soon for my Amaze. Bit confused with which engine oil to go for as i doubt with the 0W20 even though it is FS, the engine might overheat as the avg ambient temp in Kerala is close to 30 degrees.

The petrol recommended grade for amaze is 5w40 not 5w30!! I am not sure who recommended 5w30 to you? Please check your car's manual which will list the recommended grades of engine oil.

You can get fully synthetic 5w40 shell helix ultra or motul or mobil 1 and these will be more expensive but totally worth it for a smooth ride.

Being a car enthusiast I've gone through the owners manual plenty of times.

The recommended engine oil grade for the petrol Amaze (Indian model) is 15W40 from a total of 8 grades starting from 0W20 as listed in the manual including 5W30 which comes some where in between. Honda recommends to select the viscosity in line with the ambient temperature.
Since we bought our car in 2013, 5W30 grade is being given by the Honda service center. And i believe it is pretty much fine.
I'm a bit worried to go for the 0W20 FS engine oil, that's all.
Thank you for the advice wrt the 5W40 options.

Interesting to know that for Amaze it is 5w40

But for Brio it is 5w30 and in Indonesia it is 5w20

I have used 5w40 in Brio in summers and 40 felt best compared to other grades.

I use my petrol Amaze sparingly, not more than 2 times and less than 20 km in a week. My car is 2 years old with 13455 on the odo.
Day before yesterday I have started the car and not noticed anything absurd. But when I tried today it refused to start. I am surprised and attempted four times to start the car but failed. I have observed some fan rotation sound but the engine didn't come into life.
Head lights, horn, indicators, were working fine and so I expected no issues with the battery.
I ran into my flat from the parking area to call the on-road assistance team. I was back to my car after 5 minutes and attempted to start the car one more time before I call for assistance. This time I turned the key and hold it in that position for 5 seconds and ultimately the engine came to life.
I have kept the engine running and called the Honda on road assistance team and explained them the complete scenario. They mentioned that it could be due to a battery issue. They suggested me to go for a short drive or keep the engine ON for 30 minutes. They also insisted to get the battery changed, if I come across the same issue again.
Is this due to a battery issue ?
I have already opted for extended warranty and hope it covers battery as well.

This is a battery issue all right. I doubt whether extended warranty supports consumable parts like the battery.

Anyway, car batteries are cheap, you can exchange your old battery for some money off, so that it is hardly worth raising a warranty claim over.

Completed 21000 km in abt 3 yrs with my honda amaze petrol, I had done last service in Sep 2016, though I got 18 kmpl in my last long journey from Bangalore-Pondicherry-Mahabalipuram-Bangalore with 800-900 km.
Someone told me that longer duration between service do give more mileage. Is it true? Though in last 1 year I have done abt 10k km.
