What is the point of not changing the fuel filter if they are doing an engine oil change?

The service interval is 1 year and 10k kilometers. If they want an earlier oil change, did they at last show you the dipstick / did you check the oil levels?

Hi Team,
Have brought my ivtec for servicing. The ODO stands at 52986 km and the age is 4 years 8 months.
The ASC insisted for 60k service. Apart from engine oil + filter I have asked them to replace transmission & brake oil. They refused to change fuel filter. The estimated cost is Rs. 7000/-, I think it's quite on higher side.
Specifically told them to avoid doing any diagnostic scan or any other unwanted things.
I have been told that they have approximately 100 cars to serve today!
As a true BHPian I have stationed myself in the lounge.

Hi Hserus!
For Petrol model the fuel (Petrol) filter has to be changed at 80k km. I had asked them to do it looking at the age of my car. But they declined to do it.
You might be referring to oil filter, which they change at each oil change.
As usual when they presented the invoice copy it had few things which specifically I had asked them not to carry. Like injector cleaning (Rs. 980/-), battery testing (Rs. 48/-). When I pointed out they were deleted promptly.
The total invoice paid is Rs. 5751/- which includes labor and consumables.

Anyone knows where one can source a wiper nut cover online? Someone has stolen mine after I had parked outside.

Servicing @ 87290 Kms:
It was already 9100 Km Kms since the last servicing. The servicing included all the usual suspects; vehicular fluids and filters, both the lower arms and stabilizer bushes were also changed.
Some additional work was done but was not mentioned in the bill, such as brake fluid change, brake bleeding, clutch slave cylinder bleeding and MAF sensor cleaning. Total bill came to rs 9229 which is reasonable but at the same time highest till date.
This was the first time brake fluid was changed and bleeding the slave cylinder has transformed the clutch, it has now become super soft but not much difference felt in terms of braking. There was no immediate effect after cleaning the MAF sensor but after about 50 km car felt more responsive to throttle input and has become more smooth.

Don't know it's GST effect or what but Honda has reduced the spare prices for most of the items clap:
Earlier engine oil now costs rs 1785 vs rs 2300
Air filter rs 385 vs 450 and so on.

Does anybody know where I can find the pin out diagram for the new Honda amaze audio connector? I'm trying to fix the OEM head unit from the new Honda amaze into my old Honda amaze. They seem to have different connectors. Any picture of the new Honda amaze audio connector like the ones below would be really helpful.

So - a quick question. The 30k service in the Amaze, as in most cars, is just an oil filter + fuel filter change.

As I posted here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post4332290 - the air filter is not changed in the 30k service.

But as I found, the dealership (Capital Honda, Perungudi, Chennai) doesn't even LOOK at the air filter, even if it is choked black with dirt, unless the customer mentions it specifically.

I had my driver take the car to the service center as I was out of town and he was the guy using it to take my wife around, and that proved a mistake. They gave it to me without touching the air filter, and the driver then drove the car for another 1500 km before I took the car out for a spin and instantly figured out something was wrong.

Cost me 4500 to get the throttle body, manifold and catalytic converter thoroughly cleaned at an independent garage that I trust, everything was so choked with dirt.

I seriously doubt I'll ever use that dealership again for service, the fact that the car still has a year of extended warranty left means that I'll probably have to find another dealer for the regular service intervals, that being a condition of the extended warranty.

Help needed from experienced / experts:
AM in Mumbai. Own a Honda Amaze 2014. Have about 21k kms. Now hardly use it for 10 to 12 km/week. Is it good to get costly servicing done by the car dealership's garage given the lack of attention from them or get it done (like basic service) by neighborhood garage ?
Also another query: Got email from car dealership saying "Mega Service Camp" with some free checkups. Is it really worth taking these offers or are they trying to get your money by showing defects (which would not really impact the mechanics of the car?

The "free checkups" will inevitably tell you "sir your clutch is going sir", "sir your injectors / throttle body needs cleaning sir" etc. You can safely avoid them.

Honda service is fairly cheap - just reject the extra addons the dealership tries to sell you and do things rigidly according to the service manual.

Done with my first and minor DIY on my Amaze. Installed a shark fin antenna and it has improved the over all look of the car and the FM reception quality is excellent. I am very much thankful to the BHPian @NoHonking for all his inputs and suggestions.

I have bought the product from AliExpress as suggested by @NoHonking in grey color. Got the antenna painted to Urban titanium color and the paint job
done by a road side denting & painting wallah was good. He took my fuel cap for color reference and went to some paint shop and bought the perfect match to Urban Titanium color.

Cost of the product : 4.85 USD*65 = 315 INR
Cost of re-painting : 150 INR

Total : 465 INR (I consider this as a steal price when compared to other products available online).

Sorry ankit, I am replying to your post rather late and I don't know if you have already changed the engine oil. Anyway, my suggestion would be Castrol Edge pro titanium 5w30 or Mobil 1 5w30; both are fantastic, long drain, and fully-synthetic oils. I have personally used Castrol Edge for almost 5 years now and have been more than satisfied in its performance. Even Shell Helix is good but personally I was not very happy and hence not included above. Cheers

HI, I have changed my Amaze SMT petrol engine oil to Motul 4100 5W30 few month back..surprisingly my highway mileage has increased.. got 18.5 km/l in last 900 km trip and 17 km/l in 2000 km trip earlier. And went to free checkup at Magnum honda. B'luru recently. Free check up guys said, my car is completely fine and noting to be replaced.. I have decided to change engine oil outside service as service guys don't do right job for engine oil change for sure..

I bought an Amaze EX Petrol in Sep 2014. No major issues till now. But then my usage is only once a week.

About 3 months back I noticed some thud noise from the front left wheel either when I sit inside the car or when I just move the car after the week of it being in parked condition. At first I thought something to do with suspension -I had done a long trip a year back and part of it was on NH9 (Pune - Hyderabad) which was in very bad state that time.

Last month I went in for my yearly service and I mentioned this noise issue to the service adviser. He said he would look into it.

On getting the delivery I inquired with him about the noise issue. He asked me how much I am using the car; I said once in a week or even 2 weeks. He asked me if I am keeping the car parked with hand brake pulled up. I said yes, always. He said that is why the noise. Since the car is parked for a long time with brake the brake lining is getting jammed and hence the noise. He said he has cleaned the lining.

He suggested not to do it and I have been following this instruction, and no noise since then. That was a very illuminating experience for me.

RHS tail light of my Amaze has to be replaced as a very obedient & disciplined two wheeler lol: rammed into my car at a traffic signal.

Please suggest on how much dent it is going to make to my pocket. In the mean while I have come across an online parts seller.

http://www.partsbigboss.in/tail-lamp...ze-rhs-ag.html

Price: 2160 + 250(Shipping) = 2410 INR.

Please provide your inputs whether it is better to buy online and go for DIY or to get it replaced by Honda ASS.

Hi Guys.

Need some inputs on the below:

Car in question is Honda Amaze Diesel 1st Gen (2013).

1. Honda Oil used by HASS is Idemitsu 0W-30 or 5W-30? Fully synthetic or Semi Synthetic? Honda denied providing me this info over the mail saying its fully synthetic, which I highly doubt.

2. What grade of Gear Oil (Manual) is used? Honda denied providing me this info over the mail saying its for internal classification only and confidential. What is a good option if I want to use aftermarket?

3. Who is the OEM supplier for Oil and Diesel filters?

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I also own two Honda Amaze Diesel (2013).
I can help you with engine oil query. Honda uses 5W30 semi synthetic oil manufactured by Idemitsu. Honda also calls this oil as 3D oil.

Yes, you are right on the 3D part buddy. That's exactly the SA told me. But, I've got a mail from HCIL saying its fully synthetic! :)
