@DeKay: The car is absolutely stable. I have gone only upto 100 km/hr and I do not find any stability issues. In fact, I find the steering to harden up a little at high speeds which is excellent!

3. Is the H11 fog light available in Hella or do I need to buy the H11 Osram nightbreakers?
4. The parking lights in T10 right? I can replace the bulb easily in the headlight assembly?
5. Are all the 3 interior bulbs (above the gear stick) T10 size?
Sorry xuv I havent seen this post till you pointed it out in the official review.

1.2)Hella powerlight 55/60w , they are 20 to 30 percent better than osram.Place hella in the right and osram in the left headlight and reconfirm it your self before paying.
3.H11, only in philips extreme vision and osram night breakers
4.5)very easy to replace all the lights and all interior lights both front and back , number plate light, parking light except the boot light are T10 push bulb type.

I went to a Philips Distributor today today and got the following rates:

T10 bulbs - Rs. 1150 for a pair of bulbs. He had 2 options: 6000k and 6700k
H11 Fog Light bulbs - Rs. 1350 again 2 options 4200k and 5000k

Unfortunately the H11 Osram Night breakers are not available in several shops that I tried. In face one dealer told me that fake bulbs are available too!

I also tried for Hella Powerlight white colour H4 bulbs (90% more light), they cost Rs. 900 a pair but are again out of stock and will be available by end of August.

Today, I discovered something interesting! I was trying to lock the car using the black button on the driver door handle while the remote key was inside! To my luck the EcoSport refused to lock! I tried 3-4 times thinking the button has malfunctioned!

Smart safety feature! It saved me a fortune of going back home in heavy traffic and getting the second key! Thanks Ford.

Well, it did happen to me once, when I left the keys in the car, pressed the black switch and went off assuming the car locked itself. I realized an hour later, to my horror, that the keys are locked up in the car. I went to the car to check, and the car was not locked!

Now I'm not sure which is a bigger problem here. Do I have to listen to the "click" of locking? Would have loved to have something to alert me that the car didn't actually get locked. In my old i10, the alarm used to go off if I try to lock from outside, with a door not properly closed - I used to hate the shrieking sound of that alarm, but something more subtle but loud enough to alert me should have been nice.

Also, my workplace has a multi-level car park and I tend to forget which level I parked in. On my old i10, I used to sound off the alarm using my remote key, to get an idea of where the heck the car is parked. Missing that too :(

Hey Saisrujan,

I have observed this feature since day one, here is what you can do.

1.Either never take out the key from your pocket either to lock or unlock the car (I got used to this)or
2.Make sure you make it a habit to lock with the remote controller, unlocking is your choice.
3.I always tend to forget the floor I parked on, so I invariably click a picture with parking and floor number and this method has never failed me.

One more important observation

If the duplicate key is inside while you lock the car , it is disabled for abvious reason and only the key which was used to lock is active.

Cheers

Re: My Urban SUV: Ford EcoSport Titanium TDCi - Moondust Silver

Guys, another piece of information I wanted to share was that we can download Microsoft Sync updates for our EcoSport from Ford, India's website.

We have to register the EcoSport using the VIN number on the link below:

https://www.secure.india.ford.com/sync/owner-login

After a few days of registering, I logged in again to check whether there are any new updates for the car. Not as yet! But I can see the version installed along with the date and time which in fact matches with my vehicle manufacturing date. Please see the screenshot below:

Hey
While filling the form it is asking for MIN ,mobile identification number, any idea about what exactly this number is? The form says it has to start with 0
It is not the IMEI number or the mobile number

I was stuck over there for like 20 odd minutes thinking what should be done with the MIN. It is basically suppose to be your cell number so for now just enter your cell number starting with 0 and ignore the last digit since the MIN cannot be more than 10 digits. This is a technical problem from Ford and hopefully they should correct it soon.

126 km. This was because my car had to go from Nerul to Vasai RTO and back.

There is no new Sync update as yet! I will keep you guys updated in case I see a new update available.

I also urge BHP-ians to check their Sync accounts regularly and keep us updated in case of any new version!

Re: My Urban SUV: Ford EcoSport Titanium TDCi - Moondust Silver

Hi guys,

Quick question for EcoSport owners, today for the second time I observed that when I do a full tank of Diesel, the fuel guage does not show the correct reading immediately. It take at least 1 hour for the fuel guage needle to move to the "F" position.

When this happened for the first time, I turned back and went to the pump so re-fuel thinking that it may not have filled completely, but only 1.3 liters went inside to fill it to the brim and it still did not move to the "F" mark, next morning I saw that it crossed the "F" mark.

Today, same thing, I went down and check after one hour of refueling and it has reached the "F" mark else after doing a full tank it still stays 2-4 mm prior to the "F" mark.

Please check and let me know!

Also, just a quick update regarding the whistling noise I was complaining about. Ford guys were extremely proactive and sent someone from the development team to look at my car. They have tried their best to eliminate the noise by repositioning the return fuel line and also replacing it as a precautionary measure since they had some doubt on the fuel pressure on the return line. I tried probing more into the issue but since I had a busy week at office I could not go and personally meet the engineer who had especially come from the Chennai product development team to work on my car post the email I sent to customer care. In fact I am amazed at the kind of service they are offering.

The noise has reduced but they are working on a design improvement to eliminate it all together. I guess this should be on most Diesel EcoSport's manufactured in May/June 2013 but is not a matter of concern since it does not impact performance or safety of the car. It is just a irritating noise that I want eliminated.

Did you have the engine running while refueling? I think I read in the manual / official review thread instructing us to switch off the engine when refueling. I always switch off my engine and walk out of the car to refuel, and my fuel gauge has been quite accurate. Hope that helps.
