I have faced rusting issues on my car as well, although nowhere as close to yours. Ford has been very supportive with warranty though. Chennai being a coastal area I understand cars are more prone to rusting, but in my case, my car has always had a covered parking, is rarely washed (thanks to the Jopasu duster) and is cared for more than a regular car !

The first case was back in Oct.'15 when the car was a little over 2 yrs old and in extended warranty. The dealer (MPL Ford, Chennai) acknowledged the issue and painted the whole panel under warranty.

I moved to Pune in March '16 and last week noticed rusting under the right ORVM on the door. The car is now out of warranty, and while the dealer brushed it off saying it's common in cars running in coastal cities and that I will have to change the whole door, Ford has been very supportive once more and have agreed to replace the whole door panel under goodwill warranty. Fingers crossed now that they match the colour properly !

While I am very happy with Ford's support, I feel this should not be happening. I hope Ford's newer cars don't face the same paint issues.

Sorry for my delayed response. No Installation Logs as such. Headlamp bulbs can be upgraded at any FNG or any accessory dealer by putting in a Plug & Play Relay (preferably Philips) with a pair of either a 100/90 or a 130/100 Bulbs to suit your requirements.

For installing Hellas, you need to weld two small L Type Brackets to the front cross member and make a cut on the bumper grill (which is not really visible) to install the Hellas on them. Electrical Kit is provided with these Aux Lights.

In case you need any further help, feel free to PM me and we shall discuss

I am also from Kolkata and initially I had booked the new Gen Figo Titanium model, however due to some unfortunate incident I won't be able to go for the new one and getting myself a used one Zxi 2011 model with ODO reading of 38000 kms.
The seller said that he won't be able to give me the service book as he misplaced it.
So is there any other option to know what exactly done and what needs to be changed etc?
I will be taking my new 2nd hand vehicle for service end of this month only.
Some suggestion will be helpful.
thanks in advance.
Great to know another Kolkata BHPian !! Congrats on getting the Figo ZXi !! You can walk into any Ford Service Station and show them the Smart Card of your vehicle if the vehicle has been transferred in your name and they shall do the needful. If not yet, carry the old smart card along with the copy of the Form 29 & Form 30 to them and they shall share the Vehicle History with you in detail from the date of purchase. But that detail shall only be available with them only if the vehicle has been periodically visiting any of the Ford Authorized Workshops.

You can request them for a New Service Book for your vehicle as well and I suppose they should not decline your request; though it might take some time for them to source it from Ford.

You can ask them to do a general inspection of the Vehicle and they shall make a Vehicle Report Card for you and let you know what needs to be done to the vehicle in the times to come.

In case you need any further help, feel free to PM me. I have got a good connect with the Ganges Ford, Topsia Workshop and shall put you through them to service your requirements on a priority basis.

By the way, there is Meet coming up sometime next week. Link : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/team-b...tiniketan.html You should take some time out for a day drive to Shantiniketan if you want to catch up with most of the Kolkata BHPians.

I agree to the fact that Ford is indeed very supportive in attending to warranty issues and such issues as well. The newer cars of Ford are less of metal and more of plastic wherein I doubt these issues would remain The previous generations have been a completely different breed in comparison to the new ones. I prefer the older ones though w.r.t. toughness and handling.

That's really a good news. I every time follow the updates you put in this thread, so i can get a rough idea of what to expect next in my Figo. My Figo diesel which shares the same birth date with your Figo is now at 21,500kms mark in 1.5 years. Till now its holding up pretty well. The only unscheduled change was the rear left shock-absorber under warranty. Plus this car is abuse friendly too. You can check out this video for reference!

And couple of pics of my steed from the recent Team Bhp Kolkata meet at Santiniketan.

re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 2.5 Years & 40,000 km update

02.02.2017 : 40,000Kms Service @ Ganges Ford, Kolkata :

The vehicle was nearing the 40,000Km mark when suddenly last week a few issues were noticed back to back. Enlisting the Issues :
  • The AC was either cooling too much or not at all
  • The pick up was dropping once in a while and the RPM was also slightly fluctuating with this behavior
  • The Bluetooth was sometimes connecting to my phone and sometimes it was not
  • There was "Kach-Kach" sound coming from the suspension when I was crawling over speed breakers
  • The Steering was feeling extremely heavy and sometimes it was getting locked while turning to the right

So gave the car to the Ford Authorized Workshop to do the needful as my vehicle is still under warranty. However, prior to giving my car to them I gave the BMC Air Filter Installed in my Figo to MAD METAL for a cleaning and installed the Back Up K&N Filter for the time being.

Sharing the picture of the vehicle at the time I was about to get the delivery :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170202_151037.jpg

I opted to use the Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil and ensured that it was poured before my eyes :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170202_182900.jpg

The faulty Lower Arm which was changed on a chargeable basis as it is not covered under warranty after 2 years :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170202_182707.jpg
Cost Paid for this was : Rs.1,640.00 each which amounted to Rs.3,280.00

Notice the Rust :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170202_151313.jpg
The Ford Team clicked pictures of this rust alongwith rust on Wiper Arms, and some rust on the Hood, Rear Doors and the Boot. They shall r=send it for approval to Ford and replace the rusted parts under warranty, hopefully !! I am keeping my fingers crossed on this repeated rusting issue.

The Solution to my Problems :
  • The compressor clutch was malfunctioning and was replaced under warranty. Now the AC if working fine
  • The EGR was cleaned and the ECU was programmed to eradicate the Low Pick Up and knocking issue. Not the vehicle is behaving normally
  • The Bluetooth of the Music System was reconfigured and now it connects perfectly with my phone
  • The "Kach-Kach" sound is gone after replacing the Lower Arms on chargeable basis
  • It was found that the Steering Column was faulty and was completely replaced under warranty which would have costed around Rs.9,000.00 if not taken care by the extended warranty program of Ford

Total Cost Incurred for the 40,000Kms Periodical Service was Rs.7,711.00 which includes the cost of the Lower Arms, consumables and labour charges wherein the Engine Oil was an additional cost to me which was procured from outside.

Overall a good service experience and a good amount of cost savings too. The vehicle now runs fine and hopefully will clock to 50,000Kms soon and fuss free

re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 2.5 Years & 40,000 km update

It's quite a bit of rusting as seen in the pictures. Hopefully Ford would provide a free replacement of the parts mentioned above.

The lower front arms in my Micra also got damaged in 2 years and had to be replaced; it seems the road conditions in our city is the culprit. How are the shock absorbers holding up for you? The service center replaced mine at 70k mark when there were some noises coming from the suspension.

Wish you a speedy and tension free 50000 kms mark on the odo.

Regards,
Debrup.

re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 Years & 48,000 km update

Little bit of question.
Currently I am running with Hella relay and 100/130w bulb set up.
However in my recent highway drives I do get some dark spot on the driver side.
I have tried adjusting the beam but it never helped.

Can anyone help me out on these.

Is this because of the old headlamp glasses or something else?
Any remedies for this?

It's an inherited issue with the Figo on the highway with the existing set up. I felt the same in the initial months of ownership and thus opted for the Hella(s) which do the job well. However, these days LED Light Bars are also available and you can opt for them too.

re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 Years & 48,000 km update

It's been a while that this thread has been updated. The Figo has had it share of fun in the monsoons this year by splashing a lot of mud here and there and mud wading too on some occasions. Here are some pictures :

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170805_124643_1.jpg

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20171007_151644_1.jpg

The car was washed at MAD METAL and a litre of Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 1L was topped up as the vehicle had consumed around 1L of the Oil :

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170805_182909_1.jpg

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170805_191342_1.jpg

Also, the relay of the Hella(s) had malfunctioned and was replaced at MAD METAL workshop itself.

The tyres though did not require an immediate change, however, the vehicle was nearing the 50,000Kms mark and I thought of proactively changing the tires. So, being content with the YOKOHAMA EARTH 1 in the stock size of 175/65 R14, I decided to upgrade to 185/65 R14 of Yokohama Earth 1 again. Here are the Pics :

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170720_120033.jpg

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170922_210543.jpg

Soon after the tires were changed, there comes the time to change the Brake Disc, Brake Pad, Rear Brake Shoes, both Front Shock Absorbers and the Steering Link Rods of the Figo. All this work was done at ALOK AUTOMOBILES in Topsia with all Ford Genuine Parts which is now available at the nearest local parts dealer.

A picture of the Front Brake Disc :

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20170921_141911.jpg

The brake disc had been resurfaced twice before and now was the time to change it as the Car was planned for an upcoming Hill Drive and risking weak brakes, is never a good option for spirited drivers like us.

Next update will be the 50,000Kms update with the Next Service coming up, in a very short while after the completion of the Road Trip to Bhutan !!

OCTOBER 2017 : It has been long overdue to update this thread. Figo explored BHUTAN aka the land of the Thunder Dragon in September-October 2017; it's First International Trip.

Sharing the Link of my Travelogue http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...er-dragon.html for everyone's reference.

Re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 55,000 km update

November-December 2017 : After the Bhutan Trip, Figo was due for a few regular/ periodical maintenance and this is how it all went :

Engine Oil Changed @ MAD METAL :

Belt & all 4 Pulleys changed (partly under warranty) at Ganges Ford :

This is how the Engine Compartment looked after a Service :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20171210_155638.jpg
Note : The Battery had also given up and was changed at Indo Radial Club. An AMARON 44A Battery was installed replacing the OEM Battery

Sparkling White at the Service Centre :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20171210_160054.jpg

MARCH 2018 : It had clocked 64,000 Kms and it was very unfortunate that we decided to let go of the Figo due to some unavoidable circumstance. Though I wanted to retain it's essence in the car which was going to replace it. Thus, managed a set of OEM Alloys of the Figo and replaced the Propeller Looking Alloys and retained it.

I guess my Figo lost all it's character with this replacement. Being ignorant was the only option I had. A picture with the OEM Alloys fitted :
My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20180327_121948.jpg

This car has been really special to me in many ways. It was an emotional time when I was letting it go and I will not be able to express myself much. I guess it's better I keep my emotions within me as we shared an internal bonding and it knew it was being sacrificed for a good reason. It had it's role to play in my life and it did play it well and I hope I took care of it in the best way one could. A last picture of the Figo, signing off :

My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone-p_20180329_191719.jpg

The ownership thread comes to an end with fondest of memories with the Figo in the last 4 years !! May it's new owner keep it as well as it deserves to be kept. Change is the only constant and we need to move on for all the good reasons.

re: My Diesel Ford Figo Zxi - 3 years, 64,000 km and gone

That is a sad time for sure. The old gen Figo had that connection with the driver mainly because how driver oriented it was.

I am curious to know what is replacing the Figo? Most of the ex Figo owners have something as special( in some way) as the replacement.

I am curious to know what is replacing the Figo? Most of the ex Figo owners have something as special( in some way) as the replacement.
I'm smelling a used Endy which has taken the place of the Figo (Team-BHP classifieds zindabad!). The brio will be used for the city runs, isn't it, sir?

Surely it has replaced the Figo pretty well. Has gone places and is a reliable workhorse as well. All I can say is that it is ageing gracefully. Sharing some pictures :

The Brio (being an AT) is being driven by my wife within the City Limits. I hardly get to drive it much. Although it is a fun to drive car !!
