Great to read that finally your steering column was changed and kudos to your persistence. It does take time as it took me 1.5 years also but i am sure you would be enjoying the butter smooth steering movement too without that irritating thak sound.

It took me close to 2 years to get the column changed and thanks to your post I had proper knowledge about it and I'm really hoping that the problem does not creep up again!

My AC Compressor, cooling coil has failed and my car just got out of warranty last month. Any idea of how much the compressor will cost if get it fixed from a FnG?

I think the compressor costs ~₹20,000 if bought new.

Get things checked from an A/C specialist to ascertain if it is the compressor that's gone or something more too that needs replacement.

Is coolant getting clogged?

I sold my Ford Ecosport Titanium plus diesel, two days back. I have finalised Creta to be my next car, but a little confused between SX optional and SX automatic. My drive is usually 70% highway and 30% city, and I enjoy driving manual, but the convenience of of an AT in the city also tempts me. Which one should i go with?
Another point is that, most of the dealers in my state Punjab, are all bent upon looting the customers, by tricks such as teflon coating, anti-rust treatment, unwanted accessory packs, inflated insurance premium etc. And they say all this is mandatory. How to go about them?

It all comes down to personal preference. Mine is pure b2b traffic and still went for the manual. Clutch is pretty light and gear ratios are well suited for suited for city driving. I would suggest you to drive both (AT and manual) in b2b traffic conditions and see which suits you. Since 70% is on the highway, manual should be fine.

Dealers do add in-house insurance but you do have the option to opt for any insurance. Here, the dealer tried to push for accessories, teflon coating etc but I politely declined. In case they still insist, just ask them to give it in writing that it is mandatory else do contact Hyundai customer care. They are pretty effective. I had contacted them before and they took action quickly.

How can I mute the navigation on the head unit?

I have a 2015 creta and my gripe with the head unit is it keeps interfering with the audio play (playing songs) to narrate directions even when I'm not using it for navigating. I have tried reducing the volume of the in built navigation but it seems to be of no avail.

What can I do here?

There must be a route mapped into it for guidance. Cancel the route, it should stop the call outs!

I'm not using the navigation at all. I start the car, pair my phone to play music and keep driving and yet the navigation keeps giving me instructions to god knows which location:Frustrati

Go into the navigation at least from the menu. And check. Some route must be mapped in, and is persisting, so it starts to guide you.

There is a sound icon on the navigation map on the right if I remember correctly! just touch and put it on mute and your problem will be solved!

IIRC, if you have added/saved any location as "Home", "Office", "Special" etc and if you are somewhere near it, the guidance will automatically start. This used to happen to me each time I go to office (this happened initially when I bought the car). After updating the HU, I don't get this guidance. It might be due to the above instance since after the update all the saved locations were deleted (Home, Office - I had saved them when I got the car). Do check if you have any locations saved. If so, do delete them and see if it still occurs.

I think this resets everytime you start the car. I get the curve guidance warning and whenever I mute the volume, it keeps coming after I restart the car. Now, I disabled "Curve Guidance" feature in the menu.

Do any of you guys have an idea about the premium for the extended warranty for 4th and 5th year till 100k kms with taxes(in delhi ncr) for 1.6 Sx+ AT Diesel and if there's anyway that this price is negotiable with the dealer?
I'm thinking of getting one since I did not opt one when I bought the car in 2017.

Here's the extended warranty price list. This is without tax.

I have 2016 Creta SX Diesel, about 35k odometer run. Lately i am facing an issue when speed is around 80-120km, on highway on 5-6th gear. Suddenly speed drops by 10 odd kms as if i have pressed the break. I have faced this twice now, not sure what is the issue. No issues after that. Has anyone faced this issue or what may be the cause?
