Just wanted to share a quick note regarding the ICE update on my 2015 Hyundai Creta Diesel SX(O).

The stock HU on the top end creta did a fairly decent job in terms of audio playback and bluetooth telephony. However the lack of video playback capabilities and absence of android auto, made me look for an upgrade.

The upgrade was done in Jan 2019 and it has been almost a year since the upgrade. I was quite skeptical about the after market HU since the brand was not well known. However the friendly neighbourhood accessory shop did a wonderful job in terms of sales and support. Very happy with overall performance of the unit.

The daylight visibility is great. The UI is snappy. No bloatware. Decent inbuilt storage of 32 gigs.

The headunit is from a brand called MOCO. The website is here http://unplugonline.com/. However I don't find my product listed here on the website.

Here are few pics from the install

The neatly integrated look of the android HU:

A good upgrade, much needed over the stock HU.

If I may ask, how much did you pay for this and what all items were required other than the fascia plate?

Any particular reason to get this HU over the other ones from Sony/Pioneer etc?!

To me, this HU looks similar to the one offered by Blaupunkt Jamaica 970 - LINK

Paid close to 25k. The whole unit comes with the front fascia. The unit comes with the left and right ac air vents. It was just a plug and play job. No messing with any wires nor the dashboard.

No particular reason. I had no plans for an upgrade on that day. I went to the accessories shop to pick a good mobile holder for the car. Just enquired about the product since it was on the cards. Saw the product. Liked it and Ended up buying it. But am really happy with its reliability and performance.

Hello fellas, I am just curious to know how long does a factory fitted battery lasts in Creta's top end automatic diesel variant. I am getting a delay of ~1 second everytime I push the starter. Is this normal?

Thanks!

I have diesel top end manual. Battery barely lasted 1 year for me. Got a new battery under warranty from Exide. Went and immediately swapped it for Amaron (65Ah).

Are you referring to the 1 second delay during cranking? I think it happens as the battery grows old.

Thanks Anurag for your quick response, as usual. Yes the same delay during cranking. My worry is that since this car is driven by my sister and I don't want her to get stranded in the middle of the road with no help. Is there a way to check if the battery needs replacement or should I go ahead and order a replacement since its been 2.5 years on the stock battery.

OT: Can we jump start an automatic car by pushing it from behind or rolling it down from the hill? (Apologies for the noob question) stupid:

Check the voltage across the battery terminals while cranking (both while the engine is cold and when hot). The voltage shouldn't be less than 10.5V, if it is, then the battery is on it's last leg.

No, not by pushing the car. You can use another healthy battery to jump start.

My CRDI SX+ AT battery lasted close to 3 years. The sign to change the battery is a delayed start of over 1 second and it last about a month before the Battery dies. My odo was close to 70K KM when the battery got changed.

What is the stock battery amperage ? on the Petrol SX AT ?

I am having the same issue.. the crankup takes just that tiny bit longer than earlier.
And i am going on a RJ road trip soon !

Which is a good replacement brand? and cost?

I have the extended warranty for 4th & 5th year- Does it cover the battery?

No. Battery warranty is separate and provided directly by battery OEM. At the time of delivery your welcome kit would have included a warranty card from the battery maker. Very few give anything over 1 year in a new car installed battery from factory.

Your battery is now near 3 years old. That's where average batteries jump off the cliff. Visit a reliable battery store & get it checked. They tell whether you need a recharge or replacement. If you have regularly monitored & topped up the electrolyte, the battery may have another year or so to live. Also depends on your usage pattern. A lot of highway runs with minimal start-stops & engine cranks extend battery life. If you have never bothered about acid level or have relied on the service center for top-up, the battery is nearing end of life in all likelihood.

Same car-
Battery life was over at 2 years and 8 months. The OEM batteries have always lasted 3-4 years on other cars.
Replaced with amaron 2+2 45AH for 4400rs.
Get it changed asap as there is no push starting. On startup- my instrument cluster and PRND lights user to dim/ flicker.

I think as others suggested, you should head to a nearby battery store or Hyundai service centre to get the battery checked and see if it can be recharged or needs a replacement. In my past experience, I've used both Exide and Amaron and haven't seen much difference in performance. All my battery replacements have been carried outside of the service centres and the warranty (usually 2-3 years replacement and the next 1-2 years replacement at lower cost) is usually better than the stock battery.

Hey Guys,

Do you think this level of coolant is okay for Creta AT Diesel? - Refer to attached pic please.

50k service of the car is due in next 2k kms. Do I need to top up the coolant level or would this be sufficient to munch 2,000 kms?

Thanks much!

Thanks all for your response. I had the visit scheduled by batterywala.com. Upon checking, the ampere reading of the old battery (stock one) came out to be 7.89ish. The battery was then replaced with Amaron Flo which costed me 4500/- (after the discount of the old battery)

The ordering and replacement process took merely 2 hours. The voltage across the terminals of the new battery is about 11.56 now. The representative from the batterywala.com told me that the battery is 80% charged and the ampere reading would improve as I drive my car (read: as the battery will charge)

Once again, thanks for your inputs.

It is okay. Nothing to worry unless it decreases further due to any leak in the system.

You can cover the remaining 2,000 km on this level. If required get a 1L bottle of ready-to-pour coolant from any fuel station.
