Re: Jeep reveals Indian specifications of Grand Cherokee

Well - I don't think there'll be too many looking forward to the Renegade launch now that we've all got an idea of their pricing 'strategy'.
Half a crore or thereabouts I should reckon.

Re: Driven: Jeep Grand Cherokee

If you are in US you can have it for 28 lacs, one can rent a house in US park the Jeep there, fly business class from India, enjoy the drive once in few months and still have money to blow up in Las Vegas.

We have flamed Honda Jazz for the dummy button on the dashboard for a 10L vehicle, but can count almost six in the 1 crore Cherokee.

Absolutely ridiculous to day the least.

Re: Jeep reveals Indian specifications of Grand Cherokee

At least SVP had the grace to say that he questions the pricing while announcing the figures:
https://t.co/j0cCmfYtrt

Autocar, in its detailed report releasing the pricing has not made even a passing qualitative observation that the pricing is on the higher side. Despite it being WAY OVER all the expected figures they had previously quoted.

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-new...ia-402871.aspx.

I find that surprising given how shocking the nos are.

Seriously dimwit pricing. The worst I've seen in recent times.

To be fair to the Fiat management, I guess they too do agree with your views and are really optimistic in not selling any in India.

How else can one explain zero dealers listed in their website? Or is it that such cars are sold only by way of exclusive invites, similar to how OnePlusOnes were sold?

Should I be now walking into a Fiat showroom for a demo? As per Jeep's website, that's not the case....

Even the Wrangler is way overpriced!

Wrangler - INR 71,59,104/-
The prices are ridiculous!!!

Recently a friend picked up the Grand cherokee Limited(5.7) for 18000 OMR.

That translates to INR 31,32,000(on road)

Why would it cost 3+ times the money in India!?

At least if I buy a Jeep here, there will be more 'Bling'value back home

Re: Driven: Jeep Grand Cherokee

Apart from the crazy pricing, this vehicle looks very similar to the TUV ! Grill and wheel arches look very similar.

Am not saying the Jeep Cherokee has copied the TUV design, but after spending lakhs on a vehicle, you don't want someone to come up and ask where you purchased the nice Jeep logo which you've pasted in front of your TUV

I wonder what their India FCA Team are Smokin' these days.....must be some hotshot consultants who are completely disconnected from the real world...
The "hotshot consultants" need to show only the first quarter figures. I am sure some celebrities and a few other folks will buy this and the sales chart will record a 700% growth. And the hotshot consultant will go to another company. Leaving Jeep in the dust (no pun intended).

From Cars.com, I see the following

Jeep Cherokee SRT - ~70k USD
Jeep Summit - ~54k USD
Jeep Wrangler - ~42k USD
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - 44k USD

Even with a doubling of prices, let's say 140k USD for the SRT, that is 93 Lakhs INR. So, I am guessing Jeep is either really taxed crazy numbers by our Government or they are looking at a pretty penny.

Good luck with the venture, Jeep.

Re: Jeep reveals Indian specifications of Grand Cherokee

Consider this the Bentley of the SUV market in india??
Are they confused who their competitors are?
Have they not studied the market?
This is how to make a fool of yourself in Broad daylight. Price it like a fool.

Wrangler - INR 71,59,104/-

Id rather pick up a bolero, Spend on it make it look like a wrangler and be happy.
And for class pick up a GLC too with the extra bucks left.
I have a wrangler replica and an upmarket suv with that pricing.

Shame on you Fiat.

Quite obviously it's the other way around. Mahindra did the copying. TUV is 'inspired' by many design elements like the Grand Cherokee front end, Evoque'ish side view etc.

Similarly, even Thar will get an image boost now. Miniature wrangler for about 10% of the price.

Re: Driven: Jeep Grand Cherokee

Can one import one for a cheaper price ? For me, its the second one after Mustang to have ludicrous pricing. Whatever the Americans are thinking now a days. Shouldn't take their warming relationship with India to such heights

Lol!!! One more reason not to buy the Cherokee! Well, it is actually the other way round. Mahindra has copied the Jeep design on its "tank SUV"!!!
But the layman will find it hard to differentiate between the two and the owner will have trouble explaining why he paid 10 times the money of a TUV when the layman's TUV offers everything from "SUV" looks, BT integration, A/C, power windows and the likes!!!

I always root for the underdog and would've been happy if the Jeep could take away a couple of cars' worth of sales from the German trio. With this dimwit pricing it is a dud from this very moment and I would be definitely surprised to see one on the road!

Re: Jeep reveals Indian specifications of Grand Cherokee

Ok, another one bites the dust. Or soon will. Ridiculous pricing. What are they thinking. I was in fact looking forward to book one, which i thought would be hopefully in the 50+ bracket. Turned out to be 2x50+.
Guess, we now wait for the Fortuner.

Jeep reveals Indian specifications of Grand Cherokee

I am sure they have launched them with keeping in mind the 'Buy One Get One' offers which are favourite among our desi public and which they would be launching soon.

I am suddenly reminded of sales figures of Mitsubishi Lancer EVO.
