Goa Roadtrip;

Had an amazing short driving Holiday to Goa during Christmas 2020. The Fortuner performed well expectedly. The BFG tyres were great, reassuring on Bad roads, High speeds & also the ghats. Here are some pictures;

Left around 5:45 am from Mumbai, clicked from friend & BHPian's Innova Crysta (he too was travelling to Goa on the same day);



Caught the Sunrise on the Mum-Pune Expressway before Pune;



As i said the tyres performed well in all scenarios;



At a random fuel stop around Kholapur;



Once into Karnataka the roads were stunning and the difference is really felt. Shame on Maharashtra / Politicians responsible / Road Contractors;



Passing through Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary;



Love Railway crossings (Im sure most BHPias do)



Entered Goa;





Reached our resort in South Goa @ 3:40 pm

FE Averaged around 11.1 km/l for this 1200+ km Roadtrip with 2 Passengers + 1 (Infant) & luggage on board. Tyre pressure set @ 29 psi

Late Post: 50,000 Km Service @ Lakozy Toyota;

This service took place on 5th Feb 2021.

50k kms was a good time to switch from the regular Engine Oil to Fully Synthetic Grade Engine Oil.

Oil Filter & Oil Pump was also changed. Propeller Shaft Greasing was done. Air Filter Cleaning was done, 4 tyre rotation was conducted along with other routine checks.

There was also a body panel (Right Hand Side Rear Quarter Panel) that needed repair & repaint which took care of some battle scars courtesy Mumbai traffic.

The Service related bill was INR 9786/- (Incl. GST) & Body Work / Paint Charges were INR 7414/- (Incl. GST).

Rajasthan is the largest Indian state by area & shares its border with Pakistan.
Rajasthan as we are aware is also the most touristy state in India & is known for its hospitality but at the same time it also is the home to the inhospitable Thar Desert. Join me in this video as i take my 4x4 Fortuner across this State, The Thar Desert & upto the Border. I had with me some more BHPians in a another Fortuner, a Skoda Octavia RS (230) & an M5 (F90) along with me all the way from Mumbai - Udaipur - Khimsar - Jaisalmer - Longewala - Tanot - Jaisalmer - Mumbai covering 3000+ kms over the span of 5 Days in this Epic Adventure of a Road Trip;

Brings back memories of 2018 drive to RJ in X1. Did all the same places including Jodhpur, Bikaner and Pushkar.

Roads in RJ are definitely runway like and a pleasure to drive.

For Indian driving condition, you need a combination of 328i + Fortuner, which can be X5 40i. Best of both worlds.

On the return journey to Mumbai did the 1000+ kms of Jaisalmer-Mumbai in one go with 17+ hours of driving time & reached home late at night. Last few hours were a bit dreamy for sure, explains the shaky Triplog image clicked on arrival.

Your Rajasthan road trip brings back fond memories of the Delhi-Jaipur-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Delhi road trip undertaken by me recently in January 2021 in my humble Rapid TSI.

I'm sure you people had a blast in Rajasthan in your cool cars like the Fortuner, M5 & Octavia. Also, it's great you took your 4x4 Fortuner on to the Thar desert, where of course we sedan guys can't venture. Envy you SUV guys.

Was a bit hectic (Averaged about 600kms/Day) but yes, great fun indeed.

The Fortuner Got Detailed (Interior + Exterior) in the 2nd Week of March 2021;

This 55k Service took place at Millennium Toyota Thane on 27th May 2021, when the odometer was @ 56381 kms.

Car Checkup/Inspection was Done, Brakes were cleaned, Car Wash & a Mandatory Sanitisation process was done.

Total Cost Including Taxes was INR 2675/-

Wonderful ownership log and "infortaining" reviews. I am in the market for a 2nd gen pre-owned 4x4 AT and your posts have completely confused me. I currently drive a W10 AWD XUV. Wanted an AT purely from an 'upgrade' and also 'ease of city drive' perspective. Since you have driven the MT extensively, have you felt that an MT/AT would do better in certain scenarios? (And sorry if you are getting this question the one zillionth +1 time)

After driving both the transmissions, I personally feel the Manual Transmission 4x4 Fortuner is a better choice, primarily because of the reasons below;

1) IMT - Very under rated feature for the Fortuner. This rev matching feature transforms the downshift experience.
2) Manual Transmission makes the Fortuner driving experience more MANLY (Both Off & On Road)
3) A Diesel Manual Fortuner is the Torquiest (Most Torque) Manual Car available on sale in India.

Update: 60,000 km Service

Odometer Reading: 60687 kms

This Service took place on 18th Aug. 2021 @ Millennium Toyota, Thane.

The car got the routine Oil (Synthetic), Air, AC Filter Change, Brakes Cleaning/Sanitisation, Washing, 4 Tyre Rotation & other inspections were undertaken.

Total Cost was INR 12,812/- (Incl. Taxes & Labour).
