Default 15,000 km Service !

Update: 15k Service;

Size:  405.5 KB

This was a minor service (5k interval) hence it was more like an check-up.

Brake Pads were inspected & with 15,800 km on the odo the life was as under;

Front - 6mm
Rear - 8mm

Minimum required for Manual Cars is 2.5 mm so i am good at-least till next service.

Air Filter, Cabin/AC Filter was cleaned.

Top Ups (Brake Fluid, Windscreen Washer Fluid)

Exterior Wash, Interior Vacuuming etc

Millenium Toyota, Thane did an excellent job & finished the work in about 55 mins

Total Bill - INR 1577/- (Incl. Taxes)

Default Support car for ProjectE46 !

Recently the Fortuner played support car for ProjectE46 & transported freshly mounted tyres on the new rims;

Hi Karan,

Can you please put some info from your experience between both the Fortuner? Basically related ride, handling, brakes, overall engine feel, etc.

This would be a good information for many people.

Hi,

To answer you queries;

Ride Quality: New gen Fortuner has a definite better & balanced ride quality over the previous gen.

Handling: New Gen Fortuner has better handling & you feel more confident in the high speed highway cruising & can place the SUV better in the corners BUT new Fortuner losing out on full time 4wd (which the old gen had) is a disadvantage with more torque hence definite traction issues as the car is eager to feel oversteery over cement roads.

Brakes: New Fortuner has better brakes v/s the old gen

Engine Feel: The 2.8L GD series engine seems like a newer, advanced adaptation of the older KD series, downsized with little gain in power and decent gain in torque i dont really miss the KD series to be honest.

The only 2 things i miss about the old Fortuner are;

1) Hood Scoop (As the older 3L KD engine had a top mounted intercooler hence scoop was provided)

2) Full Time 4WD (Major loss as the old gen Fortuner was easier for Driving fast in rain, concrete roads)

This is what happens. I am waiting for your comments when you will change them to AT's. Have heard that the Yokohama Geolander G015 have improved sidewalls.

BTW, how is the truck doing? Any trips?

Default Sunday OTR !

It was high time that the Fortuner needed an OTR session & it did get a day it deserved out in the wild;

On the Mumbai - Pune Expressway;

One of our Fortuner Owners recently bought an RR Evoque & came along for this expedition;

Some sections were tricky as it was a proper incline, loose rocks etc so with rain it was fun;

That's dirt cheap! I checked estimate for my Crysta manual, for 20K service I am seeing 66xx plus tax.
