Re: Porsche Panamera Edition Diesel : My new daily drive

Wonderful review there Porcupine! Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. "The Drive" post gave me an actual "feel" of the drive. I am a fan of the buttoned layout instead of the now-standard touch screen based controls.

Only the exhaust note seems to be the fly in the ointment. I got really excited by the time I reached that exhaust note point, only to be disappointed

I have two questions:
  1. Were there any options for the exhaust?
  2. How much is the maximum available ground clearance?
Wish you thousands of happy miles with the beauty!

Wondering why Porsche didn't equip it with the brilliant PDK (not doubting the gearbox in your car, just curious).
Thank you! I think it's a Diesel thing, none of the Porsche Diesels have the PDK. While the Cayenne Diesel doesn't have the PDK either, neither do the petrol ones.

The petrol models have a 'Porsche Sports Exhaust' option that makes the exhaust note louder and raspier, but no such thing for the Diesel. They only have an option for the Sports Exhaust Tips, which are dual tips on either side and do give the car that mean quad exhaust look.

Re: Porsche Panamera Edition Diesel : My new daily drive

There is a slate colored Panamera near our office, not sure whether it's the facelifted or previous gen model.
I like everything about it except the exhaust note. huge road presence, Porsche royalty.

Congrats, NAZAR NA LAGE

Congrats for the acquisition mate. Must be one hell of a ride!

The interiors look beautiful especially in Marsala Trim and all Porsches have that timeless exterior design!

Enjoy the torque monster, your highway trips would be surreal from now on!

Thank man, yeah the road presence is immense!

I really wish the exhaust note had even slightly more louder roar; it's literally the only drawback. There are aftermarket options for it, but I don't know if I want to go down that road.

Congratulations on the ride and wish you many miles of absolute pleasure.

Just one question, any reason you did not consider the M3?

I wouldn't recommend it unless you feel it is a necessity. The Panamera has a certain class about it and I'd prefer to keep it hushed and regal than loud and in-your-face.

BTW, congratulations on the H-U-G-E upgrade and may the stallion give you oodles of pleasure and satisfaction...!!! Drive safe, will ya.

Thank you!

Main reason being I upgraded from the E90 3-Series and have an F10 520d so I wanted to change it up a bit.

Well my concern is more to do with the warranties etc. at this point. There are some reputable vendors but I'm just not sure. As far as loud goes, there are some real loud Porsches that come right out of the factory, like the GTS and Turbos!

Off topic - I think I saw you on the Western Express highway going towards the sealink this evening. Just before the Kherwadi bridge. If it was you I was in the CLS which you may or may not have noticed sitting in that cockpit of the Panamera Barely any facelift Panamera's that too in white, so just a guess!

Yes, and the loud kinda suits them in my opinion. I dont think an end can would void warranty as long as you are pally with the dealer and the dealer is a sensible one too. What about OE options?

Re: Porsche Panamera Edition Diesel : My new daily drive

Dear Porcupine,

Congrats on your new acquisition. I saw one here in Gurgaon in Blue a month back, somehow it didn't appeal to me, most likely because it's nowhere near to what I can afford so I kind of walked off. But your review is very elaborative and I thoroughly enjoyed. Hope you enjoy it to the fullest.

Tell me did you ever considered buying a 911 and a new E- Class with all this money as this was what I thought when they gave me prices with option lists

Re: Porsche Panamera Edition Diesel : My new daily drive

Hey buddy,

Congratulations on the purchase, and thanks for sharing the detailed thread of what lead you to get a Panamera.

Reading the thread I was reminded of how insanely options are priced in Porsche. Attaching a quote that I received for a 911 Carerra S.
