After the Magnite scored 4 Stars in ASEAN NCAP, I had a hunch that the Triber too will score similar rating, but at Global NCAP, those 4 stars mean a lot more. Glad to have made the right choice to buy my Triber!

I believe that now when the Global NCAP has given this car a 4* Safety Rating, now I understand why the tinny feeling sheet metal took the brunt so well on those occassion. Happy to have a 4* Global NCAP safety rated car in my garage.

2. Renault Triber RXZ MT, for it's practicality, looks and the surety that you can carry extra people or luggage whenever you want in just a few minutes. The ride is excellent on the highways and also in the hills. The tyres follow your steering movements nicely, and you will know how much to turn even on the ghat sections with confidence.
With the safety verdict out, I would love to change my consideration list with Triber moved to No.1 and Nexon moved to No.2. The Triber has also gained a lot more features in the MY2021, which should bring it up on the chart by default, and adding to that the new safety score.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img_20210625_100004529.jpg

Got a chance to drive on the Manali-Kaza state highway last month end. There are no roads between Gramphu and Takcha for almost over 70-80Kms, but the car behaved well and completed the route without getting stuck anywhere and crossing the water crossings with ease. The engine protection plate did a splendid job of keeping the engine safe and prevented damages from flying stones and through the water crossings.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img_20210625_105339519_hdr.jpg

Got a chance to visit Kaza, Hikkim (highest Post Office) and Dhankar Monastery (one of the oldest Tibetan Monasteries in India). The suspension did a good job, and the tyres did not get a single puncture or burst on that route. In fact, I got a tyre burst on a perfect road near Dehradun due to a big nail and the tyre had to be replaced, but nothing on the off road sections of the Manali-Kaza road.

The car did get stuck on the last water crossing near Chandra Taal, as I forgot to switch the AC off while water wading. Had to be pushed before I got out safely without any engine or underbody damage. The car came across in one go on the way back, with AC etc. off.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img20210629wa0041.jpg

Got an overall mileage of over 13.5Km/Hr in a place where even we were struggling for breath due to high altitude. Travelogue to come up soon.

P.S. - Went to the service centre to check about a recall for the front suspension arms change, my car is not a part of the recalled vehicles!

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Good to read about the Triber performing so will in tough terrain.
Gives me a lot of confidence about my little buy.
On another note, it is unfortunate that the Kiger has not been officially reviewed on TeamBhp.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img_20210824_163840.jpg

Just received this email from Renault. Fixed appointment for this Saturday at Renault Mandi. Hoping for a trouble free ownership experience even in the future and feel good to see the company actively contacting the affected car owners about the part change and how to go about it.

Crossed 15K in my car by the way, and still loving every drive.

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Reading this (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5147032 (Mahindra XUV700 Review)) comment in the XUV700 review, I was thinking are these ACC and Cruise Control features really plug and play?

If there is a possibility, I would love to get the ACC Module from the Kiger and Cruise Control from Magnite installed in my Triber. Looking forward to people's views and suggestions on how to proceed with this.

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Had received an email notification from Renault India about a recall for change in Bonnet Lock mechanism, and was able to get it done yesterday, free of cost under warranty!

The email

The base of the bonnet lock which is causing problems. The service person informed me that this angle is breaking and hence needs to be strengthened under the recall.

Firstly they sanded the area which needs to be welded with the strengthened parts.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img_20211008_121400.jpg
Then a Welding Blanket was put over the engine and radiator etc.

Then MIG Welding was done with 2 metal pieces to strengthen the joint.

After welding was done.

Another plastic cover was put over the engine in preparation for painting the bar.

Some anti-corrosion paste was applied on the welded edges and then primer was sprayed on the parts.

Headlights and other areas were then covered in preparation for body coloured paint over the whole bar.

First coat of paint applied

Then after some time some transparent coating was sprayed to match the color of the car.

Final look after reinstallation of the front bumper etc.

While they were checking for this recall, they found another old pending recall for my vehicle,

The screw which needed to be checked and tightened.

All done free of cost at Renault Siliguri yesterday. Happy with the experience with the car so far. Drove from Manali to Kalimpong in 4 days, with an average mileage of 14.7Km/L with AC on at most times. Touched 141Km/Hr for a very short time on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway. The car performed flawlessly on the highways, state roads, village fields and off roads. Crossed 17500Kms till now, will get my 3rd Free Service done after returning to Dehradun by this month end. By then would have completed 20000 Kilometres also.

2 years with my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Completed 2 years of my car's ownership on 29th November 2021. In this time, I have completed over 22000 Kilometres with my car, are I'm really happy overall. Attaching a few statistics:

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-screenshot_20211129223933467_com.kajda.fuelio.jpg
These are the overall figures that everyone would want to know about.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-screenshot_20211129223927010_com.kajda.fuelio.jpg
This one answers the perpetual and universal question of "Kitna Deti Hai? or How much mileage does it give me?"

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-screenshot_20211129223907007_com.kajda.fuelio.jpg
The mileage figures have improved after the 3rd service done in early November this year, and with the increasing prices of Gasoline, I am happy to see the numbers in green.

A few points which I dislike:-
1. Few plastic panels have started to rattle over rough roads. Otherwise they are silent, but on uneven road sections, they start creaking and rattling sometimes.

2. Sorely miss a proper and company fitted Steering Control and Cruise Control. Also, the seat height adjustment in the newer version.

3. The boot space though big on numbers, does not suit my need. I need to travel as a 5 seater and then even use the 2 extra seats sometimes, and those 2 folded seats in the luggage area eat up a lot of otherwise usable space when I need to carry quite a lot of luggage.

4. I would have loved around 200mm of ground clearance, I still scrape my engine guard at times in the hilly roads here near Manali.

Points I like:-
1. High speed stability and road manners are amazing. Never done those crazy speeds in my dad's Baleno, but in the Triber triple digit speeds felt like gliding on the expressways. Also, we never arrived tired at our destinations when we did the Manali-Kalimpong drive last month, it was always a good and relaxed drive!

2. Storage spaces in the cabin are really thoughtful and help keep the car uncluttered.

3. The versatility to use it as a 5, 6 or 7 seater when required, even the Go+, Eeco, Bolero, Sumo, Xenon etc. would not have provided me with that.

4. The ground clearance is adequate for the plains and highways though!

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Had my first live snowstorm / snowfall drive today. It was exhilarating and adrenaline rushing. The full video will come up on my channel after a few months, probably after the Manali-Kaza Drive series, but here's a sneak peak for you all.

Do note, no snow chains were used, and only the tyres were constantly moved left and right to gain grip as I inched upward on that steep slope.

P.S. - I am open to suggestions for snow driving in regards to FWD 4x2 vehicles, to improve my driving skills.

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Thank you so much for all the time and efforts you've put in your ownership review and YouTube videos as well Adityaji!

We are a family of three and have a ten-year-old Hyundai Eon. As the model has since been discontinued and due to changing tastes, we have decided to upgrade to a C-SUV. We've found that the Venue, Kiger, and Triber fit our needs and demands near-perfectly! I've also made a short post about the same here (Best car on a 10L OTR budget?) and would appreciate it if you'd provide your opinion there.

Coming to the Triber, we saw/read a lot of videos/reviews complaining about various aspects of the car and they have diminished our confidence in the car. They are:
1) Poor paint quality: One person showed us how his Triber's paint had come out just behind the front wheels on both sides after repeated splashes of mud, and the quality of the plastic bumpers surrounding the rear.
2) Car shudders during reversing, often horribly (we experienced this in our TD vehicles as well, the same problem in AMT and MT)
3) NVH levels inadequate at speeds above ~80kmph
4) The rear wheel wells(not sure if this is the right term, I'm referring to the area behind the wheel/above and inwards the body of the car) are not covered, hence mud travels to the chassis/suspension as well.

Please answer these four queries about the car.

Best Wishes!

Thanks for the appreciation and let me start answering your questions to the best of my knowledge:-

1. The paint quality in my car is amazing. I think that maintaining the car also decides about paint chipping off or not. Every time I have to drive through mud or slush or mild off roading, I reach home and try and wash my car at the earliest, that helps to prevent any rusting and also keeps the color good as new.

2. Yes that is an inherent problem with the Triber MT and AMT. Some AMT owners got the clutch plate replaced under warranty, but when I took my car to the service centre the said it's because of the 3 cylinder engine and mountings on the chassis that we hear that sound.

3. With all the windows up, I will disagree about too much NVH. In fact, I usually keep my music system volume around 5 while driving, and had to hardly increase it to 7 or 8 even while doing 120Km/Hr on the recent expressway drive between Manali and Kalimpong in October. If any window is even partially opened, then I agree there is lot of wind and tyre noise coming into the cabin.

4. Yes that is a genuine issue, which again is taken care by pressure cleaning that region to remove all mud and debris from behind the rear footwell. I had mentioned about this in the thread on Kiger where this issue was highlighted, can't remember the link.

Hope these help. Good luck with your hunt! Keep checking out the YouTube channel for more wonderful content on the capabilities of this small wonder by Renault.

Thank you for the earnest and thorough answers! This gave me a lot of confidence and finally booked the Triber RXZ AMT (Metal Mustard)on the 15th of Feb. Got delivery on the 7th of March

So far, having driven only about 40kms, I can confidently say that with all windows up, music at mute and engine running in neutral while the car is parked, I had myself questioning if the engine was actually ON!! Yes, it really is as silent as Venue or I10 Nios' cabin at idle. There is very, very slight (negligible?) vibration to be felt in the steering and this really calls for Kudos to the entire Renault development and technical teams who have so well insulated/refined the engine and cabin NVH!

Another point is that while reversing, there is no "horrible vibrations as if the car will fall apart" at all. Renault is continuously improving the product, or so it would seem.

However, sometime in late 2021 they revised the features and removed and added features in the variant line-up; most notable is that I don't have an Eco score in the infotainment, nor foam in the front door armrests(glad in a way, this may be home to fungus in the coastal monsoons). After hiking price from 1st Jan 2022, one'd expect them to return these features.
Maybe I should write an ownership thread of my own? You've covered everything already, let's see if I notice anything to be added other than that

So wonderful to know about your becoming a part of the Triber's Tribe! May you have lots of smiles as you much miles. You do loose the Eco Score and Padded Armrest, but you gain Steering Controls, Height Adjustable Driver's Seat etc., which I believe are more practical and better.

Frankly, I have hardly used the Eco Scoring option on my car once ow twice in these 2.5 years, I just keep the MID on Distance To Empty and drive. The mileage calculation is done by the Fuelio App for me.

Yes the engine is quiet and at par with other 3 cylinder engines of other cars! Just a gentle hum and thrum, and slight vibrations on the gear lever. Awaiting your Ownership Review to get another perspective of our little wonder!

P.M. me to join the Triber Owner's WhatsApp or Telegram Groups.

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Alas. The great joy of buying a car suddenly dampened on the 5th evening of the car's ownership, just as we filled up the wiper tank with water, put some wax polish on dashboard and then tried to move it back to the parking place! The car greeted us with its same old and original, dreaded message on the MID for which Triber is famous (or infamous) for. Yes, we are talking about the 'Check Engine' warning and orange 'ECG' symbol on the instrument cluster (Means you must carefully drive to the nearest service center)!

So we made a desperate call to our SA & Svc Ctr. After few attempts somehow we go the SA, even Svc Mgr too. We already noticed a gradual tendency of avoidance from sales & accessory team after they sold off the car - because it became increasingly difficult to find them on phone. And this time our belief became only stronger than before. Anyway it was Saturday, and almost 5 pm (an hour before the Svc. Ctr. closes down) and they advised us to bring the car on Monday morning.

Oh! Its only 5 days and a defective engine in a RXZ (top model) AMT, and Renault doesn't even provide pickup? No, we are not VIPs, but how can we drive that car to some 8 Kms? What if it stalls?
What could be the reason for this failure - we asked, the Svc Mgr replied 'Have to see', 'Could be N no. of reasons' replied another person.
Now, why Renault brought up Kiger if they could not resolve Triber issues? Why give birth to new babies when you can not take care of your earlier child?
We are a middle-class family, and a service holder. So we had to decide how to spend our hard-earned money on a vehicle. So we studied the current vehicle scenario for complete 5 months. We had a big argument among ourselves whether to trust Triber with chronic issues. But I simply gambled for its modular design & price, because I believed Renault were not run by some lazy, arrogant bunch of incapable folks who can not fix an infamous issue for 4 years - especially when they dared to release a 'Limited Edition' of Triber!
Now me and my family is arguing whether I am the biggest fool on Earth, because Renault already proved they were smart by selling such a defective design.

Tomorrow will be the like the Judgement Day for us. Who knows what will come out. But our confidence is forever shaken. We will actually demand Renault to take back their defective car & issue a full refund.
