Saddened by your experience of after sales and the car's fault and going into limp mode. Thankfully I have never experienced this in my 2.5 years of ownership till date, even though my car is from the initial batch of RXZ, but it came by default with the bigger 50Ah battery and wider tyres. I thank my stars that I didn't get a lemon, or else I would have been royally stuck, as my nearest Service Centre was 8 hours drive away in Solan or Chandigarh Tricity region back then in 2019. Thankfully during Covid Lockdown, a service centre opened up in Mandi, which is about 3 hours drive away, so that's a relief!

Really shocking to hear about the attitude of the Renault Service Centre guys in your region. Even I am no celebrity, and am never treated like that, but the Service Advisors in Dehradun are really prompt in receiving the phone calls and helping solve my problems, maybe because they know I drive 500Kms to visit them for any problems, and I can not waste my time in travelling and waiting and for any other petty things, unlike localites who get their cars serviced there.

I do pray and hope that this is some temporary issue, and you haven't been sold a lemon. Did you do the PDI properly? Do keep us updated on what was the cause and solution of the problem you faced. I am sure that once this problem is over, you and your family members will really enjoy the amazingly versatile vehicle that a Triber is, and their minds will change for good about your purchasing decision!

So sorry to read this, can feel your pain. But if it's any consolation, this can happen to the best of brands. Only yesterday I was discussing about a 300km old Fortuner AT where gearbox actuator solenoid had failed. Won't elaborate on this incident as it may soon come on the forum if owner wishes. But what makes or breaks the brand is how they react to incidents like these. Hope Renault solves it to your satisfaction.

Coming back to your Triber, the CEL may happen due to something as minor as a loose connector. Request you to involve regional Renault representatives ASAP and be patient but firm with them. With Renault representatives involved, workshop guys will be as logical as they should be.

And in case there is something too negative and they don't listen to you, don't forget that you aren't alone. We are a family and we all have your back. Don't worry.

Hope this incident comes to an end soon.

Regards,
Shashi

The service center guys should've helped you, but calling the car defective/lemon would be too early. I think you should continue escalating the issue with Renault and meanwhile call a trusted fng and run an OBD check to pinpoint the issue. Feel free to drop a private message if you need any help.

Hope that your issue gets resolved, keep us updated.

Sorry to hear about your new purchase - it is really unfortunate that you had to go through this. After paying around 10 Lakhs this is the last thing one would expect. However having said that please do have patience and I am sure Renault will take care of it. It's perhaps a simple case of a blown fuse or a loose connection. Keep us posted and let's hope your issue is resolved soon if it's not already so.

Sorry to hear that mate, Hope the issue is/will be solved to your satisfaction.

Any development on this issue ? Please update if that's ok for you. We are considering Triber as an option for us.

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Will briefly relate that I had the pleasure of accompanying Adithya on a day-trip through Rohtang (Atal) tunnel to Siasu, Lahaul, this past Saturday.

...actually not just Adithya, as there were in fact five of us adults and five kids in total along for that ride in the Triber.... Quite a crew then, and it's times like these, when with a "more the merrier" frame of mind operative, that it's nice to have seven seats available to fill.

Had been looking forward to a ride in this for awhile, so may as well share some impressions.

I'm 6'2" and didn't try the third row, but the passenger's seat and middle row seemed plenty comfortable; As Adithya knows (I've been his physio patient numerous times) my back isn't the greatest and tends to get sore quickly with anything but great seats - which these must be since I felt as good when I got out as when I'd gotten in... Could literally feel the support inn he middle of my back - and it felt good!

So 1) it's pretty comfortable and spacious considering it's not a big car.

2) Next, the power and ride dynamics and braking were better than what might be expected of a smallish car technically overladen with ten humans aboard.... It managed the steepest part of the climb (at I suppose 2800m elevation) in second gear, which seems good enough, and never seemed unsettled in the turns. And rough patches / potholes were handled with aplomb, too.

3. From a stylistic point, I've simply never been a big fan of most practical "people movers" - Xylo, Enjoy, even Innovas (sorry) are all somewhere between unappealing and ugly in my view... But the Triber, to me, really is a good looker. Well-proportioned with an appealing stance, and somehow manages to be neither nondescript nor quirky. His choice of deep metallic blue was about the same hue as what all of us car rebuilders in college seemed to have decided was the best to put on just about any car.

Lots to like there!

And Sissu was very pretty, too!

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

Thank you Steve (@Ringoism) for the feedback. Indeed we had been planning this group drive ever since I bought the car.

I did have to use first gear for a short while when we were ascending up the steepest slope en route to the Atal Tunnel, but even I was surprised that the car was mostly pulling up in 2nd and 3rd without hesitation, that too with 5 adults and 5 kids on board. Will try and upload the Dash Cam video some time later for this drive!

I hope it helps clear doubts in the minds of fence sitters about whether it is a good car for the hills/ghats or not. My advice to all the people out there is to have the tallest people in the front row, shorter ones in the middle and shortest ones at the last row. The sliding second row makes a big difference in who needs more leg room, so that everyone can enjoy the drive.

Wow
How did you manage to fit 10 people in the Triber? This is a first I've heard for this car. I would guess all the 5 kids were put in the 3rd row? Looking forward to the video on your trip.

Haha, well their age groups would be:
A) 1 year old in the mother's lap on right middle seat
B) 4 years old in the right of the middle seat
C) 4 years old in the left of the middle seat
D) And Ringoism's sons, aged 6 and 9, I guess, were in the last row with the shortest adult (standing 5 feet tall) in the car.

I have also fit in 8 adults and 1 kid once in my car for a short <5 Km drive in 2 + 3 + 3&1 configuration. Triber really is modular and accommodating, the travellers need to be accommodating as well.

To give the benefit of the doubt, they're 8&10 - the elder is chunky and as broad as some smaller adults, younger is built like a bean pole, could almost miss 'im if you weren't looking... So kinda like a pork sausage next to a strip of bacon... I guess that averages out to what - a pair of average-sized nine-year-olds???

Will reiterate that at 6'2" I felt perfectly fine in the middle row, at least for an hour or two worth of journeying. That small a car really shouldn't be as spacious as it seems to be. Or at 50+ am I just above average in contortionist skills??? (I don't think it's that!).

I could wish the Triber were a 4-cylinder vs. three, felt the same about the original 16v Wagon-R vs. the otherwise much improved / more upscale Stingray... Those who are real sticklers for smoothness may find things slighty amiss, but then again, having driven the Stingray a bunch can say it might really have something like "character" - not quite like a rollicking old Brit parallel twin, but anyway...

I guess the lighter weight and lesser swept area in the cylinders IN THEORY "improves" things like vehicle dynamics and FE, all with equivalent power output.

In practice not sure the move to 3-bangers (even in Bolero) is quite the ideal solution.

But every vehicle represents compromises, and as in the rest of life it comes down to what you value more and to what you can hold more loosely.

I said there's "lots to like", and many others must think so too, because we saw at least a couple other Tribers up there that day, one hailing from the Deep South someplace.

So this side of heaven, will say it seems a nice package for the money.

And that for real perfection we need to look beyond vehicles entirely.

-Eric

Re: Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)

With lot of grief I have to inform everyone that my car is now sold off in another part of Himachal Pradesh, and I had a brief run of just 24156Kms with my Triber in 2 years and 4 months, had got it at 80Kms on the Odo.

Ownership Review of my Renault Triber RXZ (Electric Blue)-img_20220407_105821.jpg

I hope the buyer takes good care of it!

I will still be open to people's questions on the car and try my best to help future owners and prospective owners.

May I ask what made you sell it? Are you upgrading to another 7 seater?

Hello Padmarajravi! Yes, I am planning to buy a used 4x4 or AWD 7 seater, preferably 2012 and later models in the used car market. Almost finalised what I want, just need to buy first before I disclose here.

Although I am not a regular in your thread, I glance through your posts once in a while. It is because I really like Triber as a package even with shortcomings it has. Your ownership thread is quite informative for a prospective buyer and you have certainly helped dispel doubts many have had regarding the capabilities of the vehicle.

Thank you Emvi, I'm glad I was of help to so many buyers and fence sitters over the course of these 2 years and 4 months, and I do hope that in the years to come, this thread will give confidence to so many buyers and second hand Triber buyers when they have doubts regarding the capabilities of this little wonder with full load and in the ghats and hills of India.
