Any BHPeans who have booked the Grand Vitara yet?

I read in some paper that insurance will be cheaper starting September.
This can have higher impact on high value cars like Vitara than on the A/B segment ones...

I am just waiting for things to become favourable for GV purchase....:-)

An update for prospective buyers.

Just heard these prices from a MUL service engineer. Got these prices only. Apparently, a manual GV took a hit during a TD.

# Front bumper - 15K ish (before painting)
# ORVM - 6K ish
# Tail Lamps - 7K ish.

I was in a hurry - forgot to clarify whether the last 2 were prices for pairs or individual units.

I guess, spare prices of any CBU import would be high.

Is that on the high side?

TG says that the engine of the GV is not that good and it needs a diesel, with the current petrol GV being 4 lacs cheaper then the CRV, the CRV need not worry.

BTW there is a feature in the GV which shows fuel consumption, if you drive with full throttle it shows 3 and with a light foot it shows 30kmpl.

That's instantaneous Fuel Consumption that the GV instrument cluster shows and the european reviews have mentioned that the fluctuation is irritating...

Usually they should show 2 figures - instantaneos and average (may be over last 100 km). Does Skoda do something like that....

BTW, The FE figures for GV (2.0 Liter, 16V petrol) from Australian and European sites mention 30mpg and 9.1 l/100km...

Can someone confirm?

They should be for individual units. Just to give you an idea, I paid around 5K for my one of my ORVM (OHC VTEC).

In that case, are you suggesting it is overpriced?

Or, are you saying its ok?

I personally feel that the Grand Vitara is a good vehicle, but costs associated with it in India would be high, given that a lot of things can get spoilt within the first 2-3 yrs.
I read in TOI,that the initial apprehension in getting the Vitara to India, was due to the fact that the road condition + general city traffic would contribute to the quicker wear & tear of components.

Anyways,its definitely got some style..

No comment on overpricing at all. I was just trying to answer the question about 6k for two or one ORVM.

The rationale behind that was, if one ORVM of OHC costed me around 5K, then for 6K one can expect to get only one ORVM of GV (and not two).

Since its a CBU, initially parts would be imported and costing will include duties i.e. high. Perhaps if it starts selling hotcakes, MUL might involve their local vendors to start manufacturing the basic parts atleast.

Saw my first one on the road a few days back & have to say it's quite small size wise. I don't think there is much difference in size between this & the Tucson.
