Kalyan, Congrats for your i10 booking...probably you will be the 1st i10 owner on Team-bhp...
i am curious to know one thing. How would you compare it to Getz1.1 or 1.3. I mean, why did you opt it above getz in almost the same price range.

Had a test drive of the i10 today at the hyundai yard.

Here are some thoughts

1. Steering is immensily light when compared to the santro.
2. The seats are awesome. I just love it. My 6foot plus frame is comfy in it. The seats have got supports on the sides and the lumbar is ok.
3. There is no issue with the gear throw and the gear comes to ones hand with ease.
4. With the front seats in full back, i wouldn't fancy sitting in the rear ;my knees where well into the fabric of the seats on the front.

some pics.

Hello,

Was invited to the Hyundai i10 's Launch yestrday at my friends showroom opposite my factory.

He had a few i10's parked in the showroom & a Magna Yellow colour as the TD / Demo Vehicle.

I had already driven the i10 earlier but was not enough for me to make an impression or write a TD review.

Well here is my review -

Likes -

Very good front seats
Good visibility all around - a Hyundai trademark
Rear seat comfort better than a Santro
AC is similar to Santro - so it is good.
Dual tone horn
Nice speedo layout ( only in Magna )

Dislikes -

Unexciting to drive
Santro is better to drive - Getz 1.1 is 100 times better !!!
Gearshift makes a Noise ( Do not know why )
Very stupid looking tyres - 155 !! Should have been 175 at least - upgrade is a must.

All in all - It is a good car but not very exciting to drive - You do not expect a fun ride in a 4 lac car but honestly a Getz 1.1 is more fun to drive. I thought it was pretty boring.

Design is fresh BUT again nothing radical or out of this world.

Seats are very very good !!

Cheers !! Varun

I do not see why you should find Getz 1.1 more exciting to drive than the i10. The i10 is definitely more peppy than Getz 1.1, being lighter and having an engine that is just as powerful with as much torque (if not more so). Gearshift making noise may have something to do with this particular car.

Regarding tyres, the choice of 155/80 R13 (high profile) seems to be for comfort. Performance should be adequate for both city and highway. Hyundai obviously has the average user in mind, rather than those who like to throw the car into corners. Does anybody know the width of the wheel? I have seen an Atos specification with 5J wheels. If i10 has 4.5J or 5J, that would be definitely better than the Xing's 4J wheels from the performance point of view (as well as the ride over potholes).

I kept the blower at lowest speed and the cabin was perfectly silent and comfortably cool.
.
Now this instills more confidence in the product, considering you are speaking from a more comparative point of view, having TDed the other cars in Oct-end which is a similar time frame. Thanks for the clarification.

Hey,

Finally joined in after following posts on the i10 for the past month.

Yes, it has a RPM meter. A 1.1 crdi is expected Q1 2008, a 80 - 84ps 1.2L or 1.3L petrol also expected sometime next year.

Previous post from govigov also has a pic of the speedo with the rpm meter

The Low models till Era do not have a RPM Meter - Magna has one !! Strange of Hyundai innit ??

Diesel version I read in the papers and heard in the showroom is going to be launched not until the last quarter of 08. So yes, still a year to go I suppose.

Just joined into Teambhp. Fumbled on to some more info on the i10 so i just had to put that in..

Went to the showroom today to TD the i10.. made friends with the entire lot over the last 2 years or so since we got a Elantra, Santro AT, and a Accent and another Santro XO which a friend of mine picked with my Accent recently.. After i was done with the TD and all the drooling over the car.. the owner of the place fished out a with a 6 page brochure of the i10 and presented it to me... which they are not giving out otherwise ....

So some missing details that i can add on

i10 AT ( ERA only )

4 speed automatic .. picked up from the santro
Gear ratio
1st 3.545 M 2.919 A/T
2nd 1.894 1.551
3rd 1.192 1.000
4th 0.906 0.713
5th 0.774
Rev 3.636 2.480
Final 4.600 4.587

Kerb Weight Lightest (MT-860/AT-900)
Heaviest (MT-952/AT-972)

Unlike the santro no change in ground clearance 165mm for M/T and A/T

Expected price ex-factory 4,61,500/-

Min turning radius i10 4.75 m
min turning rad Santro 4.4 m

PS : don't know why there are lightest and heaviest for the A/T when it is offered only in one varient. Also would like to include FE of my santro A/T .. never got more than 8 km-pl with AC and barely 10 km-pl without AC. Have tried driving it in different ways and had it checked by 2 different service centers .. i10 has the same tranii so might be a similar story.

Wondering where you got this info. So far, none of the marketing materials is saying anything about 16v engine.
