i can sense true dark evil here, as i have often sensed in the ICE section. One poor bloke sets a budget and it is ripped apart the moment the scavengers are let loose but here, you guys have just raised the bar! Pictures that send landrover owners in envy!

Great job my friends.
Lets haul this man in the 4X4 club.

The shift to the safari from a lowly hatchback itself will keep me excited and content with the truck for quite sometime, so should be happy with the 4x2, but i am sure, it would have been great to own a 4x4, but i guess you dont get all the best things always
.. NO baba....

You don't realize that we are NOT tempting you. It's a 100% logical & rational choice that we are suggesting. Believe me almost all 4x2 safari owners, given a choice would buy a 4x4 now. In their hearts of heart they regret not buying a 4x4.

You sell your Soul, TV, Fridge, Washing Machine, whatever.. but buy a 4x4. If you are married then borrow from your father-in-law. You know what, you will be keeping this safari for say what ~5 years. After 2 years EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE CASH you won't be able to get 4x4 retrofitted in it.

We care for you so much that are taking all this pain. Else we don't get to gain/lose something here. We are NOT paid by TATA to promote their 4x4.

Anyway, best of luck. I pray to god that he guides you in the 4x4 direction. Amen.!

Cheers,

The reason we are so pushy is because you already have the budget for a EX, you need to stretch just a bit more for the 4X4. Had you finalized on the LX none of us would have goaded you as much as we are doing now.

Trust me boss, i have not once repented going for an EX 4X4 and not buying a VX 4X2 instead.

having bought an LX 4x2 last year, i am also now tempted to upgrade to an EX4x4. still working out the modalities of finances and hopefully, will take the plunge very soon. even if 4x4 is not needed 95% of the time, the 5% that is is put to use more than makes up for the cost.

@ timj: hey buddy, i'll do join the majority this time, we are not forcing you in any ways, but then right now you will feel that you can save some thousands but later you may feel, for that thousands i could have got the freedom of a 4x4. ok, if its strictly and strictly for office to home commute, then only opt for a 4x2.

i am saying this because i badly wanted a 4x4 (still want!) in my scorpio and i miss it very much when i see the great pics posted by our safari and scorpio owners in this forum. but in my case, the mHAWK was not available with 4x4, i sent a mail to mahindra saying that i am ready to pay a premium and argued with the dealer and what not... but they just sweetly declined my offer! you still have the choice and time.

@tmj: Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase buy the 4x4. I am green with envy at the OTR pics, every time I see them. Mahindra would not sell me a 4x4 with the an 8 seater and that was a higher priority.

Read Himanshu's thread where he's contemplating selling his 3.0 to buy a 2.2 4WD - thats just about a year and a half old.

You dont want to be in a similar situation, when all you have to do is stretch yourself just a bit more (70k, I think). Trust me, it will be worth it.

You're doing a major upgrade from a Hatch to a bigger hatch. Why not plonk in the additional bit as well and go for an upgrade that wont put you in 2 minds a year or so down the line?

I almost did but i am back

Sorry guys cant afford a 4x4 now and also the booking was made, vehicle dispatched and all that kind of stuff happened. So couldn't change the decision later.

The dealer called me and confirmed that the vehicle would reach them today by evening, its currently in the truck. Wondering if they would be able to register it tomorrow the 24th or will it be the 26th (since 25th will be a holiday). got to wait till i hear from them about it.

Any thoughts on the OEM alloy pricing? guys who swapped to OE alloys, how much were you charged? i am quoted 35k which seems very steep

Also am wondering what color seat covers should i go for. Thinking of art leather seats which seem to be good VFM and i had them on my palio, they lasted well for 4 years. I dont want to go for the beige, since they dirty very soon and a pain to maintain. Wondering what color would blend in with the dark beige interiors, sort of mid-beige center console and silver exteriors. Any opinions?

Also planning to do an ICE setup and also install a rear view camera which seems to be very essential. Will keep posting..

Thanks!

If in the next 5 years you utter the 4x4 word, I will for sure come back hard at you .

Jokes apart, congrats buddy. I am sure you will have countless happy miles with your 2x2.

As for alloy wheels, I saw a post here: for 17.5K. May reduce if you bargain hard. I don't know if they are still available or sold.

Please post here the cost of alloys, leather seats, new ICE (EX comes with ICE) and rear view camera. If this is more than the differential between 4x2 and 4x4, well

Congratulations and drive carefully until you get used to the dimensions. After that you can bully everybody else
