Wanna check another example?

Everybody has decimated Fiat for Cost-cutting (Again Sabne behate paani me haath dho liye) even phrases like Quality or compromise etc etc. IMHO all companies do it. Its only that we take certain companies at face-value. Now check this out:
  • Maruti does not give HPS but gives EPS which is cheaper.
  • Most owners feedback is for most of the Maruti cars is that there are rattles/ niggles present.
But we don't say Maruti does the Cost-cutting. There is another way we put it - Maruti understands Indian customers better & gives what the mass wants & an allround package at an affordable price. Nothing wrong with this statement but notice the way of saying it for the same issue of rattles/ niggling issues.
  • Honda does not give HPS but gives EPS which is cheaper.
  • Honda saves cost by not giving Fog Lamps (IMHO, Fog lamps are a big safety measures particularly in foggy /rainy conditions)
  • Honda saves on cost by not giving Automatic Climate Control
  • Honda saves cost by not giving Alloys
Actually, these are major major cost-cutting as compared to mere plastics.

Nothing wrong in Face-value as its derived from years of hard work for a company. But then merely accusing only Fiat for cost-cutting is not entirely true.

Very well put Amit .

OT-
A Quality Post indeed Amit and valid points.
There is a thing i had noticed on this forum. Most people are more inclined towards maruti, honda etc but the passion(or obsession) i had seen people for Fiat is really high.
I had never used a Fiat till date. But i feel they make excellend cars. Only let down is A.S.S and the spares prob(Which according to new owners here is resolved to an extent).

You know it is quite true amit. In my eleven year experience of driving a Fiat, I had to go to A.S.S ( it was handled by TVS in earlier days) a total of six times for regular servicing only. As the expertise level on Fiat increased, the friendly neighborhood workshop was quite adept at handling the Uno including change of timing belt; I have used workshop services for things like oil change, wheel alignment and A/C leak plugging. The build quality and as an overall package my Uno is in much better shape than Maruti/Hyundais of my colleagues.

Hi Gautom !!

My experience with Punto has been excellent !!

I can also vouch for the car's solid built quality since I have already had an accident

B U Bhandari has been excellent as a dealer. Little scope to complaint

btw : are you from pune or mumbai ?

best regards,
Anuj.

Amogh,

Hey what happened mate? Hope i was just a small accident requiring little repair job, would you care to explain what happened?

It is raining here in Delhi and my Uncle's City got hit by a Corolla from behind, entire rear bumper caved in and boot alignment gone. Corolla guy said in water his brakes failed, i know he was bluffing but then we cant do much about such small accidents, its a part of life.

My car got badly hit by a biker. Here's what happened :

I had slowed down to take a right turn (my speed was about 10-15 km/hr). I had turned in slightly but because there was oncoming traffic I could not complete the turn. My right turn indicator was on.

Now this biker wanted to pass me from the right. Technically he was correct. You have to overtake from the right. But he did not realise a few things
1. I was taking a right turn so he overtaking me from the right was impossible.
2. The entire road on the left was empty. He could have easily passed me from the left.
3. There was no road divider. So even if he wanted to overtake from the right side of the car, he was actually on the wrong side of the road.

I could see in my ORVM that he is going to come and hit me and that is exactly what happened. His bike was Royal Enfield Bullet. His speed was around 50-60 km/hr

The right front door of my car got badly hit. It has been replaced now. The right ORVM broke and was found lying at a distance of about 100 feet from where the impact happened.

The biker escaped with minimal injuries and my car ended up with a smashed right front door, broken mirror and a frustrated owner !!

Now to the claims part

The mishap happened on Sunday evening. So taking the car to the service station was not possible. I called the Bajaj Allianz toll free number to inform them about the mishap. The call centre executive was extremely efficient and noted down all the details. He informed me that if there was no third party damage I can leave the accident site. I did not register a claim at this point because I first wanted an estimate of the repairs.

Next day (i.e Monday afternoon) I left the car at B U Bhandari's Wakad Service station and registered a claim with Bajaj Allianz. This was again done through the toll free number and again the service was super efficient. As soon as I hung up the call, I received a sms from Bajaj informing me the claim number (This sms is sent to the registered mobile number for your policy) 15 minutes after registering the claim I received another sms informing me about the name of the surveyor and his cell phone number. I immediately called him up and asked when he was going to survey the car. He said that the survey is completed within 24 hours of from the time the claim is registered. And he was right. I registered the claim on Monday afternoon and on Tuesday morning the ENTIRE claim was settled by the Bajaj Allianz surveyor. No questions asked.

Super efficient service by Bajaj Allianz. Although I am saddened by the fact that I am now going to lose my NCB, I am extremely happy with the fact that I am insured with the right insurance company.

Go for Bajaj Allianz guys !!

It took exactly two weeks for the parts to be sourced and repairs to be completed (I will be getting the car today)

Sad to hear about it. I myself have escaped a couple of times with some blind guy overtaking me from right, as I'm taking a right turn, with indicator shown well in advance.

How much was the total damage(cost) to fix the car?
How is the color of the new door compared to that of the rest of car? Can the difference be noticed?

I always felt the Uno was the best car around - extremely practical & a very tough car. Also I have observed that Fiat mechanics are one of the best trained ones in the auto circle.

On the sales front, I feel Fiat's doing a decent job. After my TD of Punto, Fortune cars is following up with me every 4-5 days for a revert from me.

In comparison - Maruti just called me twice after I registered for a TD & till date never offered a TD of the Ritz.
Honda never even bothered to give me a call even once, though I followed up 5-6 times for a TD of Jazz
