Grande Punto 1.4 Emotion Pack, Medium Grey

I had no plans to buy a car for the next 6-8 months , but a casual visit to a Skoda Fabia showroom led me to my first car. During my visit to the Skoda show room the sales person informed about the safety features that skoda is offering like
1.Air Bags
2.ABS I don’t remember if it had EBD
3.The distance between the raditor and the front grill with a solid metal beam in between that takes most of the impact in case of frontal crash saving the raditor.
4.The metal floor below the engine casing that saves the engineassembly from below.
5.The solid body.

I really liked the car and was impressed by the build, safety and space it offered.

After visiting Skoda I seriously started thinking about buying a car and visited Hyundai showroom to check i20. I liked i20 for the features it was offering like 2/6 air bags, electronic OVRMs, good space, steering mounted controls, sun roof etc.

Honda Jazz was way to expensive so never even thought about it. I would have bought a Linea instead of a Jazz.

Before all these visits to Skoda and Hyndai I had visited a TATA showroom along with my friend as he was interested in a Vista. While he was checking the Vista I checked on the Punto which also offered the same set of features as the Fabia and i20.

A few features that I was looking into my car were Safety, Space, Comfort and FE. I did not want to compromise on Safety and Space that is the reason why I did not check on other hatchbacks from Maruti or GM.

After having a look at all these good hatchback I was totally confused as they all had everything to offer what I was looking for.

After visiting all these showrooms came the time to make a decision so I noted down the pros and cons of each car. I have already listed the pros of each car and here are the cons.

Fabia
1.It’s been from a long time hence a little old technology
2.Expensive spares and after sales.
3.A review on Team-Bhp which highlighted how Skoda makes fool out of its customers.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...g-machine.html
4.Hardly found good reviews on Team-bhp and other forums

i20
1.There was no or very less space between the front grill and the raditor,in case of even a small crash there were high chances of raditor damage
2.The OVRMs were electronic and in Indian condition I feel that is expensive to maintain.
3. No metal flooring under the engine assembly for protection.
4.The top end was more expensive than Fabia Ambiente or Punto E+ and I did not feel the worth spending that much money.

Punto
1.Boot space was less than Fabia and i20. In terms of boot space it was third after Fabia and i20.

Finally after much though I finalized the great Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 Emotion Pack. I was never interested in diesel, so no confusion here.
Punto scored over the rivals in Safety, Features offered esp Blue & Me, FE and Pricing. Pls correct me if I am wrong, no other car in this hatchback segment provies Safety, Features, a good FE and Space as Punto does at a low price.

Finally I booked my beauty Medium Grey Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 Emotion Pack on Oct last week at BU Bhandari, Pashan, Pune.

I have completed 1200 kms and so far I have managed a FE of 13 km/l. My driving is mostly in city with moderate traffic.

Good choice. FE 13 kmpl is very good for 1.4 variant city driving.

Some pics would do justice to the review.

My travel is on a straight road from Pimple Saudagar to Pune University and most of the times I return from office late at night and there is very few or no traffic. Hence, a good milegae, but overall even in bad traffic it gives a FE of 11-12 which, I have noticed as I keep Instantaneous Counsumption always on.

Congrats.. Good choice.. I too went through the same choices as you. Though i never considered Fabia and jazz.
It was a tough choice betwen the top ends of i20 and GP.

I have done 2500 KM so far and have a FE of 12. Mainly Pune City driving.
