Sorry I would disagree. Please don't generalize. The Jazz and i20 are Asian and good all rounders (Jazz has become a joke because of it's price though)

You say the Polo and Figo Petrol are competitors. The only difference in the diesel version is the engine. We have read that the 1.2 L 3 Cyl Polo Diesel engine is not as good as the Figo's 1.4 L 4 Cyl TDCi engine.

Then what on earth makes the Polo diesel superior?:uncontrol

I am bit concerned about one thing on the pricing (talking only about Diesel)
The diff between entry level (5.14 OTR- Chennai/Delhi) and top end (6.06 OTR Chenni/Delhi) is just 90k approx with 4 options to choose. I think the entry level would be positioned bit lower so that the features against price can have a healthy justification. I think Ford is targeting sales of ZXi and Titanium rather than Lxi and Exi.

Why is the 'Registration & Road Tax' varying on the same car (with same technical specifications) accross models?

As per my understnading, it varies based:
1. State it is registered
2. Capacity of the engine
3. Length of the car
4. Petrol or Diesel
5. Music system available or not (Yes, it is in West Bengal. The registration charge jumps from 200+ to 1500+ if you have one as default)

I could not find Figo diesel pricing in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai area on Ford's website, but they are available for other cities. Is Figo diesel not available in Mumbai? If yes, what is Ford up to? First it was the limited edition in which diesel was not provided to Mumbai customers and now Figo too??

What else could be the answer for asking what is the difference between a similar trim petrol and diesel car?

I'm not misquoting you.
You were the one who jumped into comparing the Diesel version of the 2 cars when i had clearly mentioned that i'm compraing the PETROL Trendline POLO and the similar spec PETROL EXI FIGO.

Yes, I stand wrong now. It varies according to the ex-showroom price.

Actually, in WB, it does not depend on the ex-showroom price. It's just on the parameters I mentioned earlier.

I think they are referring to the temprrary registration of the cars, with which you can drive for a stipulated amount of time. After that, you have to do a permanent registration. You might be knowing that it is mainly used when you buy from another place (may be dealer not present in your RTO jurisdiction), bring it to your place & register it.

You mentioned that the Figo and Polo petrol are competitors and not the diesel. I was keen to know why? Even more when the Polo costs so much more than the Figo which has a better diesel engine.
