So it finally arrives. at 8 PM. ODO reading 77 km.
Prabith gave a patient demo. Had some chocolates for him .. small token after the 2 months of incessant phone calls.
Took it for a round to the nearest SHELL station. Unfortunately it was closed. HP was an option but plan to use SHELL for some time.
The feel of the drive is really unique. Will take some getting used to after the extended Honda use. The turning/reversing part especially.
Only -ve is that I do not like the stock head lamps. Got to shop for a OSRAM with the same specs.
Will post pictures after the Mysore trip.

Will sleep well tonight.

Congrats! Looking forward to your ownership experience. How do you like the new darker interiors? Incidentally, since it was built in March, is it still BS3 or is it built as BS4?

Hey Bose, congrats on the purchase. A colleague of mine also got the VX 4X2 on 30th and the leather seat covers looks good. Even the quality of plastics has improved from previous. Wish you happy motoring and trouble free ownership.

P.S: 13.15 OTR in Bangalore for a GX. Could you please tell how much is LTT in this?

Finally; congrats Bose!

The stock headlamps are a nightmare; tried to drive with them for some time and decided that it is not worth the risk and upgraded.

- The interiors look nice. Specially the dashboard looks cool at night. Not sure about the plastic quality though.

- 13.15 is including insurance, registration charges, EX warranty and AMC.
LTT is 189765.

- Can you give me a pointer to a decent place where they see genuine OSRAM?

- Mysore. Was planning today but realized that I need a few more kms before getting on the highway. So we are going on Sunday.

A few observations/Questions < 2 drives so far. 2 kms each>

- Great response. I need to get used to the long Clutch play.
- The gearbox is the usual truck feel. So no complaints there.
- The door ajar light is always ON. Realized it is the rear door sensor tripping but it is ON even when the door is properly locked. I am not hearing any rattling sounds yet. I knew at the yard itself that the rear door is drooping a bit. Told myself to wait till first service.
- I see that the radiator takes a pretty long time to cool down. I am guessing this is fundamental to the amount of heat that the internal combustion engine needs to disipate.
- The car pulls to the left when I brake. Slight but noticeable
- Has anyone installed the iPod wire? Does it take a lot of cutting? I am a iPod user but my Honda has a FM transmitter for my iPod. So no wires there.

I know I should add pics by now. Give me 1 more day.

Did about 40 km today. Put the truck to a city drive test.

Puja at the Mariamman temple near Tin Factory.
Visit to Hyper City in AECS Layout. Basement parking
Visit to a car decor shop on Varthur road for the headlamps and the Ipod cable.
Visit to Forum Value Mall. Tower parking

Things went smoothly. Just wish that the turning radius was a bit less. Maneuvering the mall driveways and the U turns tend to get a bit hard.
Following the prescribed limits for gear shift. Gets noisy above 2500 RPM. 3rd gear is the best for clutch free driving in city traffic.

Changed the headlamps to same spec OSRAM night breaker.
Put on door visors for rains
Ipod cable fitting pictures below.

The Driving comfort has increased a lot since yesterday. I am ready for the highway now.

How the Ipod cable was fixed. I can now place the Ipod in the glove. Not the most convenient but at least no holes.

@Bose:Congratulations for the new ride. One of your posts says your car is BS3.If it is then your dealer would have had no option but to get it registered within 31st March.BS3 cars cannot be registered in some 13 cities including bangalore wef 1st april 2010.

Did not know that there was one stock yard at Sarjapur road, thought they had only one at Hosur road.

And, as for the tax, there was a post earlier saying that the increase in applicable only to new stocks and not existing stocks. Not sure of it though. Yet to see a news article on that.
Its based on the Invoiced date.

Looks like they did manage to register it yesterday.
I am not celebrating till I actually have the keys in my pocket.

Hey I will definitely see you around whitefield as I too live close by. Congrats on the new car! I have gone through the exact same wait when I got my first bike Yamaha RX-Z almost 8 years back. In fact I had to book it in advance with full amount! And I can understand how it feels when you finally get what you want

Forget the small niggles... they are a part and parcel of being in Tata family.

Hope you crunch a lot of happy miles!

OSRAM nightbreakers feel good. With the front fog lamps on things improve more.
The door ajar sign has fixed itself now. Concorde SMSed me the car numbers.
The feel of driving the truck is getting seriously addictive. Not sure how the Honda will feel now.

The last piece of problem. The front AC blowers are way too weak. I just can't get the air stream to hit my face. gets diffused too fast. Talked to TATA. They had no clear answer. Thinking if I can buy an off-the-shelf silent and powerful blower.

Bose, Good to hear some of your experience till date.
A/C blower - I had the same complaint, infact, every Safari owners. Thats per design and we cant help it. I am used to it now. Onething I noticed is that, cooling (A/C) is very fast, but only that blower is slow. Cant help it.

You came for the Mariamman temple in OMR ??? If I had known, I would stepped out of my home and had a nice meeting with you, your family and its new addition. Ofcourse, with my family

Enjoy the new ride and yes, your City will have a sorry face for sometime and get used to [like my Marina].

Prem.

@Bose: I see oil drops underneath your car in 2nd and 3rd pictures which isn't in the first picture.

Please check that all connections are right. With TATA & Mahindra one has to be a bit careful with visual inspection.

Cheers

Great pair of eyes MC .

I think, it could be AC water condensation- should evaporate quickly?
