Just for kicks I decided to see what offers the dealers offer in the month of March - I called up the Chevy and Honda dealers. The deals were very very lucrative, I almost booked a AHNC after speaking to 2 dealers Solitaire Honda and Linkway Honda ..... but the RS was still with me.

The Linkway Honda SP came over immediately to meet me when I showed interest in the car and the Solitaire guys were very prompt in offering me a very very nice deal. So what do I do ? I asked Linkway to better the deal by the other dealer and after some haggling he did - but I still had the RS with me. :(

The office was not going to let me get the new car till the RS was gone - so I blocked a car giving a personal cheque of mine - the deal was good. But the offer was till 31st March only. I was confident of the RS going away before that date.

1st April - I drove the RS to work and got a call from the SP asking me what to do ? I asked him to hold on to the cheque but the offer for March had expired. Damn !

I was upset - lots !

2-3 prospective buyers of the RS could not arrange for loans and the deals fell thru in April and my chances of getting a new car were diminishing day by day. On top of that, my better half did not like the ride quality of any car after the RS - she was insisting on keeping the RS. I also thought of keeping the RS with me now for a year or 2.

I didnt bother calling up any dealer nor did I make efforts to sell the RS. The whole of April passed peacefully

What would May bring ??

The 1st 10 days of May passed normally. On the 11th I get a call from a dealer who was trying to sell the RS - a guy wanted only an RS and wanted a deal immediately. The car was shown to the guy and he put forward his offer. I did not like it and said no. But 3-4 days of continuos follow ups - we settled on a price. I was smiling but......the guy wanted to pay cash. My office refused. I was stuck again.

Spoke to the guy and asked him to get me a DD - that would mean a 2 day wait, but the guy didnt seem interested in paying by DD. Things were not looking good. But after a couple of days I got the DD in hand and I had to let the RS go.

I never realised how hard that would be - I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.

I had to move on ....find a new car - but which one ? Though I had shadow booked a ANHC, I wasn't sure so I called the Chevy dealer - he also offered me a good deal on the Magnum.

What was I to do ? I closed my eyes and thought of where I would be commuting and what I wanted from the car.

Traffic infested roads and peace of mind was all that I was looking for - a car that could take me anywhere I wanted without me being jittery about something going wrong. Both the Magnum and the ANHC offered these qualities but the deciding factor was the 5 speed AT in the Honda.

So I confirmed the ANHC AT as the car I was buying.

But wait... what color ? The great debate started again.

Congrats NC on the acquisition and a suspense filled thread.

I am also getting inclined to guess that you have gone in for Laura 1.8TSi, especially for the fact that your better half has been comfortable in the RS.

Waiting for the suspense to get over.

Cheers,
