congrats on the car man,
i agree with you that it looks the best in white,
have seen it in yellow but white really brings out the charm this car has to offer.

read the negatives you listed and some of them are quite a pain to live with considering the price you are paying, but i guess the attention it gathers is priceless and please don't fix the mudflaps, would really spoil the flowing good looks.

drive safe and try not to be too distracted with all the attention

well stated buddy, true will all that attention, its hard to drive looking anywhere but straight but when attention gets to levels of fanatic, thats when it gets annoying. Almost everyday i've a car or two following me all the way home.
This morning while on my usual drives: i had this peculiar guy screeching, wheel spinning his car next to mine for strange reasons n he slowed down just to drive parallel to the bug. it freaked me out so bad that i had to eventually stop the bug and change my route.

i noticed something great about the bug: to my surprise its got an auto hold function when engaged in neutral.

Rear spoiler on the beetle

VW took a month and a half to deliver, eventually got the Rear-Spoiler on Saturday along with Rear Sun-Shield Screen(i could hardly notice it; looks like a tint from far). Body cover and Cat-back exhaust system is still in transit.

Spoiler kit , which came along with a strong adhesive, and integrated brake lights; It's given a new character to the bug, although it hasn't done anything to shed off its girly image but has given a superb buttock lift, which otherwise is quite bland to look at.The panel gap, fit and finish is better than what i expected.
I'm hoping remus's exhaust note with its subtle bass and metallic high pitch will inject iota of testosterone to the beetle.will update you guys on this soon.

Great looking car and some neat photos there! I thought its just one of those cute cars till I read your post. Now I feel it is a truly special car. I Would have preferred it without the spoiler though. Please don't stop the photos coming - they are fabulous.

Beetle with its bootlid spoiler and sun-shield screen

Thanks andordev, the experience and the feel of owning a bug is incomparable. i'd reckon everybody to own a (classic/new)beetle once in their lifetime. I can't think of any other car on sale today which has more history. Beetle has been a benchmark for many cars as well(well, the old one really).coming back to what you stated "special" is underrated; bug is history/art on wheels - a "neo-classic".
more pics of the bug's back-

Absolutely right superboy, nothings ever going shed that image. to be honest, its a task to find straight lines in this car, a/c vents seems like the only thing straight. When VW mentioned 'curves are back', they just went overboard. lol

You've got nice additions there Tushar. Yes, the spoiler adds more beauty to your bug.

If you don't mind please do upload the pics of the interior.

Drive safe. Happy motoring

Amith

Don't know why but i find bug's interiors too boring to snap and there's nothing to showcase nor anything great to mention except for the play of different texture and unending dashboard thats about it, nevermind i'll do it for you guys

Re: Initial Review: VW New Beetle 2009

Stanley in seats and door panels in camel red/brown tone will definitely give this car a much better interior feel.
No doubts after looking at your car, i think beetle looks best in white. Yellow seems too shallow and usual.
Being a performance addict i would love to read more about her performance, how the engine behaves, what is the sweetest rpm range?
last but not the least, congrats and a perfect gift for your wife!
