My Vento 1.6 Highline ( Petrol )

Hi,

I had uploaded a couple of pics of my car and posted a few comms under Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review - Team-BHP

Noticed that too much discussed there, so starting my own thread.

Mods & Accessories:
Tyres:
Yokohama S Drive ( 205/55/R15)

Sunfilm:
Llumar Steel05 ( AIR 75 for Windsheild)

Lighting:
Philips HID Kit ( replacement for the foglamps )
Philips 90/100 bulbs
Hella Wiring Kit & Relay

Interiors:
Ovion Leather Seats ( Monza leather - Sand Colour )

I took delivery of my car on 29th September 2010, was initially handed the keys at Lalit Ashok on 26th September 2010.

I have driven 1200 Km so far - most of it Highway driving - Bangalore - Mysore - Madikeri - Mysore - Bangalore.
Max Speed - 130 kmph - didnt want to push it beyond that for the first 2000 km.
Amazing highway drive, steering feels a lot better with the upgraded Yoko S drives.
FE - 15 km/l

Original 55/60 lighting is a night driving NIGHTMARE - just cant see a thing - even with the fogs. Had to upgrade to 90/100's. Wanted to change the headlamps to HID, but was told by a couple of friends that HID is not as effective as 90/100 halogen bulbs on highway drives - not sure what the funda is. But HID looks cool and quite bright for city driving - I hardly use my headlights in the city.

On my night drive from Mysore to Bangalore, I noticed that the sunfilm for the windsheild reduces light glare of oncoming vehicles. Need to check the heat rejection - probably peak summer would be a good time.

Posting some pics of my car:

Congrats Chet on the Vento. I too plan to buy the Petrol version. But I hear all good reviews only for the Diesel variant. Wonder why! I know the performance is too good of the TDi. But I loved the petrol too!!

Congratulations to you! The tyres look superb and I am sure the car handles way better. The fit of the leather seat covers are excellent by the way.

Thanks!!!
Diesel definitely has more punch than the Petrol. But for my usage - mostly city driving of 10 km/day, maybe 50 km on weekends and a long drive once a month, the diesel didnt make sense. Also, after driving a petrol car all along ( never owned a diesel car before ), the noise levels and vibration is difficult to digest.
Also with the 1.2L price difference between the petrol & diesel, I was able to accessorise my car with half that amount !!!

Hey Chet, nicely done up ride you got there.

Could you tell me what the VLT and Heat Rejection on your tints are? Also some more pics from a side angle would be nice

Congratulation Chet1376 on your Vento. The car looks great esp liked the seats, gives an ultra rich look to the car. The hand rests compliment the set up, was the front one bought seperately.

The alloys look fantastic. Can you share the OTR for the car along with the Mods cost? What did it cost you for the seats?

These are exactly my points too for considering the petrol.

P.S: Polo 1.6 owners reported that the engine heats up a lot and there is drop in engine oil levels after few thousand kms. Please update us with the above two issues especially the heating issue.

On road prices in Bangy.

Thanks !!!

Front armrest is standard - came with the car

OTR - Bangalore - Rs 9,98,610

Wouldnt like to disclose cost of accessories for my car. Will give you contacts though

Ovion Leather Seating
Contacts: Sudham - +919740622400 or Praveen - +919845063532

I am extremely happy with the way my seats have turned out. Design was suggested by them. I chose the colour though !!!
I preferred a single colour to a two tone - looks more classy

Great Pics, congrats dude. Questions, i may be repeating, but here goes:
1. What all of the warranty goes void after the rubber upgrade? Can you, as an owner, please ask the Auth. Serv. Centre/Dealer.
2. Whats the mileage you're getting in the city with 100% a/c in traffic?
3. Does it bottom out anywhere in city driving?
4. How is the paint finish coating? Thick enough to withstand minor scratches etc.
5. How is the clutch feel, is it very hard? It was ok during my TD but an owner like you will be the best judge.
6. How effective is the a/c during the day?
7. As the car has EPS, do you actually feel the cut off/sensitivity after 40-50kmph like EPS's normally do?
8. Are you planning to change the ICE to Witson/Caska?

Enjoy your ride and as always advise you to drive safe! Have fun!
