@jayD,

Does torque come with the flip screen option, or did you use a separate app for that?

are you aware of some specific WinMo apps that can read the data + flip it?

@sagarpadaki- I think the answer is yes the phone is kept on the dash and no Galaxy does not have a projector. All u need is the reflection of the screen on the windsheild

The power for the OBD comes from the Port itself.

@govigov - Yes android does have a screen flip option.

Jayd did put sun film on his windscreen and that does reflect the screen well. One another method to reflect sun film well would be to use a polarised film or one of the privacy filters used on laptop screens . hey capture reflections and let out excess light well

A word of caution: If you leave the car unused for long periods (say 2 weeks or so), be a little careful with the OBD Scanner/Adapter. The OBD port is powered all the time (not just when you switch the keys ON) and leaving the car unattended for long periods with the OBD scanner plugged-in can drain your car battery.

I learned it the hard way with my USB OBD scanner and I'd imagine Bluetooth OBD scanners would drain the battery even faster due to increased power consumption of the BT Radio module inside them.

The easiest solution is to unplug the scanner if the car is not going to be used for weeks together.

More Elegant and permanent solution: I've hacked my OBD scanner (USB) to work from the 12V ACC line instead of the direct 12v line (always ON) available on the OBD port. This way the OBD scanner is ON only when the key is turned to ACC/ON position.

Jay, could you tell me if this OBD device is what you bought off ebay?
I do not want to order it without knowing if it would work with Ford. Please confirm, bro.

Thank you for confirming, dhanushs.
This thing costs around 50USD on ebay.com - I guess, I will get it from the USA via a friend, who is coming back soon.

50USD in US is costly. With that amount, you should get it at your doorstep. IIRC, you even get it at $2-3. I got one for ~$20.

Here - OBDII OBD2 CAN BUS AUTO SCANNER USB V1.4 Diagnostic obd | eBay

Bluetooth Scannner OBDII OBD II CAN BUS V1.4 scantool | eBay

These are from the same buyer I bought mine. Pretty reliable and helpful. Well, if you order more than one, you can save on shipping cost. Contact Fordmanachu in the forum. He might want one, just my assumption.

Also, I hope I'm not highjacking the thread.

Re: My City warrior! Figo TDCI with a custom heads-up-display

Hello everyone,

I'm very keen to have the HUD for my 2010 VW Polo 1.2 TDI too! I guess I couldn't resist having one for my car too! Just like to know if it is possible to have it done for my model. Please do let me know if someone has got it done.

Thanks in advance!
