Let us plan it again this year. And yes, the pictures in this thread are much better than some of your older threads - has the right amount of "everything". They are simply beautiful.
Let us plan it this year too.

Make that 4, and with a few 'pluses' thrown in!
Ashish rao; would it be better to do this on a weekday to avoid the crowds?

Re: Kaas - The Valley of Flowers

Brilliant thread. I was not very active on T-BHP a year ago though I was following the Kaas meet thread on and off, but having met quite a few of you personally these past few months, am totally kicked about going to Kaas this year. A friend who is a wonderful photographer and good writer is also keen, so will plan it accordingly.

Laluks- amazing photos, mate!

This meet will be family meet, we have to consider bachche companies' school etc also.
Lets decide it in the new thread.

I was thinking that if the meet is on Saturday some of us could arrive on Friday and do the trip twice on consecutive days; ek baar shanti aur doosri baar kranti (well only word that rhymed though its not really relevant)!
If biju is not around/ busy, perhaps one of us can do the honours? At least folks can start planning reasons/ excuses to give at work

Laluks No words can do justice to what you captured.
I can only praise your Photography skills.

But that bigger artist makes us feel so small, telling us there are so many things more to see and appreciate and life is so short!

Speechless..!

Awesome pics! This thread has inspired me to visit this place this year.
@laluks: Sir, I am guessing sometime during the last 2 weeks of September would be ideal to visit this place. what do you say?

The last two weeks of September and the first week of October is what I understand. The flowering starts after the rains. So the weeks can be +-.

@ampere - very true

These are the ant holes / nests of Harvester Ants.

Typically tiered fashion.
I have personally clicked pics of upto 10 tiers.

This system does not allow the water to seep in and the 'food' that they store in there remains dry and they can survive on it all through the winter too.

Very interesting.

P.S. AMAZING pics no doubt. Indeed one of the better places I have been to too.

Thank you for sharing.

A small nitpick - when time is written in the 24 hour format, you dont need the a.m. and p.m. suffix. instead of 1645 pm, it should be 1645 hours.

Thanks again, I know now what I am doing in the last week of september - early october.

Re: Kaas - The Valley of Flowers

Last year when the convoy of Team-BHP arrived at Kaas, being it weekend we did realized how much the place getting popular with mob. No wonder why forest dept. had to think over to preserve the place.

Littering, kids hopping over, no sense of following the pathway between flowers will truly destroy the infant flowers with short lifeterm.

These are no flower blooming over mud but on a thin layer of dust and hay.

It was good to see the forest guards spread across the plain to keep an eye on visitors.

Dont know about the measures being taken by Dept. but for sure I am in for the meet.

No wonder if this season we will be seeing tourist buses too as Kaas been in picture for last couple of years and this time flased on idiot box as well.

@Laluk Great pics and great composition. If I remember, you were new then with your gear. After watching your other travelogues, I am sure this time you would give us the bestest of Kaas ever.

@Ashish, bhau september coming close, its time for you to get busy.

@MX, this time you being in Mumbai, if looking for a partner in crime to check Kaas on weekends let me know.
