| Re: Rajasthan - Padharo Mhare Des Day 06 28th December 2011 Bishnoi - Jodhpur While waiting for our bus clicked these pictures of Umaid Bhawan palace Umaid Bhawan   Tonight we were supposed to do a night out to Mt.Abu. But on the last moment we had changed plans and booked a room at Jodhpur. We were booked at Hotel Guru International. Rooms were too small and extra mattresses cannot be fitted in any angle anywhere. The guys at the reception were very little concerned about our predicament. Even after multiple requests they never cared. This was one of the hotels which should be avoided in booking extra beds from the online booking portals. Told them to make arrangements by the time we finished dinner and we went out. Had some nice dinner from a hotel near the Jodhpur Railway station. We also brought some chappals from one of the many shops that dotted the street.  We reached the hotel back by 23:30 and still there were no arrangements done. We lost our cool and asked them to measure up to their commitments. Finally by midnight we got the extra mattresses pushed in wherever possible and we tried to fit into the rooms. It was just annoying. We just wanted a economic place to sleep and since it was last moment most of the other places were booked out. We booked this place 1 week before our stay, as we decided against a night drive to Mt. Abu. from the original plan. This hotel is best avoided. It also does not have parking space. But it is bang in the middle of action. So shopping and eating out is easy. We decided to drive towards Umaid Bhawan palace before saying bye bye to Jodhpur. As for me since a return was already calculated for the Mehrangarh fort, Umaid Bhawan was just another quick destination. We stopped en route for breakfast. It was all masala stuff, I was put off   I went around a few shops only to see sweets around.     For the first time in this trip I really got a craving for that pipping hot tea that I am so used to in the morning. I walked around, nowhere to find. Alarmed I walked in despair, and finally a small teashop with a few clients came in sight. That would have been the best tea I would have had in this entire trip  We slowly started our journey to the Palace. Near the palace a lot of houses were being built, probably this would be those costly Palace view projects    Finally we reached the Palace  continued... |

I was kind of in an off mood today. Decided to be outside the temple lurking around while the others go and check it out. Also the local beauties  The wait was by now 2 hours - we striked  This was absolute nonsense, they could not even repeat our order and made what they wanted to. End of the day a costly mistake, not in terms of money - but in terms of time. By the time we finished our arguments and left the place it was 17:30 hours. Kumbalgarh seems to be a distant dream now. What a terrible waste of time. Lessons learned!! continued... |

We reached the fort by 18:45hours.   We rushed in via Hanuman Pol after getting the tickets for the show.     Very Very True  It is a protected monument  History  You can read more here Kumbhalgarh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The light and sound show  The mention of Club Mahindra in the board left a smile in my face, Club Mahindra Kumbalgarh is just round the corner. So A return to Kumbalgarh is also in plans now continued... |

| Re: Rajasthan - Padharo Mhare Des Day 07 29th December 2011 Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Kumbalgarh A few pictures of the lit up Fort    The Sprited one is very happy to have been here on time  The team picture    By 20:30 hours we left the fort    We reached Udaipur by 22:30hours. We were booked in Hotel Raj Palace. We were given our rooms immediately. We freshened up fast and ordered some food for dinner. Finally got at least a proper meal that day. Kids were very tired and we found it extremely difficult to make them eat. Somehow managed all that and finally hit the bed by midnight. |
