In monsoons since the water levels of the streams are high it will be closed till October. Here there is a shed as you can see where we have to pay 65Rs per bike as entry charges and Camera Charges. This photo is from wikipedia.  But since it rained heavily, it was difficult to cross the stream to this vantage position. So we decided to trek to the rail bridge to see the waterfalls near. Trekking towards the rail bridge continued.. |

They would have probably started their trek by 08:00AM or so.  This monkey reminded me of our traffic cops   We reached tunnel 13      PPGs having fun in the falls near Tunnel 13 continued... |

All we could see was walls of white. It has lived up to its legend of curtain of milk, truly. We were happy to see the falls in its glory  A tree devoid of its leaves -probably the strong spray of water was the culprit   See the spray of water from the falls    continued.... |

So we were mostly trekking back while the bikers had tough time taking their bikes around the obstacles. By 17:30 hours we have reached where we have parked the Aria. continued... |

| Re: Dudh Sagar Falls, Goa - A Weekend Getaway from Bangalore Day 1 11th August 2012 By 17:45 hours we moved on from Collem towards Belgaum. Just after passing Molem front left wheel had a puncture. It was 18:15 hours and it was already getting foggy. Getting the Spare tyre is a tricky business. Made some calls to my friend Lukey and figured out how to remove the Spare tyre. It was easy once I figured it out. The hydraulic jack was taken out and before pumping it up, realised that the tool for releasing the pressure is missing form the tool kit. Which meant that if I use this jack to lift the car, there is no possibility to take the vehicle down from it. A quick thinking on the feet and tried to stop the vehicles coming that way. Not many came and the ones that came were some hatchbacks whose jack will not lift this 2.5 tonner. Finally a Ford Ikon came that way. The good Samaritan stopped for me and we both tried with the jack that I have in the Aria, thinking that we will release the pressure somehow to take it down. But the method was not working, since we needed that tool to lock the jack to build up the pressure too. While I was figuring all that out he stopped and Innova, and we used the Innova's jack to lift the car and replace the tyre. By 19:30 hours it was all done. The Ikon and Innova guys were god sent for me that day. I wish one day we cross paths and I could thank you profusely for the wonderful and timely help that you guys had given me. Probably if you are reading this log do send me a buzz. Jr. PPG clicked some pictures of me and the good Samaritan working on the tyre.   By the time I packed the jack and tool kit and dumped the punctured tyre at the boot it was 20:00hours already. Fog was quite thick and I followed a lorry that was going ahead of me. we were doing mostly less than 10Kmph. Somewhere in the fog I missed a left turn and was driving on in the wrong direction. I did not look into the GPS till about 21 :30 hours. When I looked it said 90KM to Belgaum  I quickly assessed the situation. I was 30KM before Davangere, I got the right route information and took those roads blindly to reach Hotel Sankam Belgaum by 23:00 hours. 832Kms for the day. Quickly ordered dinner. Took a nice hot water bath, had some great food for dinner and retired by mid night. 24 hours of travel and activities- that was what it was this day. Decided to sleep long till noon next day and start back to Bangalore late. |
