| Re: S-Cross'd : Land's End (Dhanushkodi) This log recorded Kungfu Panda's drive to Dhanushkodi immediately after the roads were thrown open in 2017. Kungfu Panda was just a few months and 2200Kms young then. I did the drive with a few friends, since the plan was immediately hatched and we took off. Recently in one of the films, Sr. PPG saw the road to Dhanushkodi and she wanted to visit. We chose the second Saturday of July, since that would mean Jr. PPG will have an off from school. It also coincided to be Sr. PPGs birthday, so all in all it was a thrilling decision. By now Sr. PPG also had got her driving license done! And Birthday drives have kind of become the order of the day. Last year we did one too. You can read it here (S-Cross'd : Birthday Drive - BR Hills, MM Hills, Hogenakkal Falls, Stanley and Mettur) So, on July 13th 2019, Saturday we drove out to Dhanushkodi. Kungfu Panda visits Dhanushkodi after 1.5 years and 50,000 Kms. Yeah, Kungfu Panda was on a roll in its first year! The Plan Day 01 : 13.07.2019, Saturday : Bangalore - Dhaushkodi Day 02 : 14.07.2019, Sunday : Dhanushkodi - Bangalore. We started early morning on 13.07.2019. We rolled out from home by 02:30AM and reached Rameshwaram by 09:00AM. roads were good through and through. 6.5 hours to Rameshwaram. At Rameshwaram, we had a few itinery to keep. We visited 01. Khushi Beach 02. Pamban Bridge 03. Pamban Beach 04. Kunthukal Beach 05. Old Dhanushkodi road 06. Villoondi Theertham 07. APJ Memorial 08. Ramar Padham 09. Lakshmana Theertham 10. Floating stone at Hanuman Temple 11. Rameshwaram Temple 12. OlaiKaadu Beach 13. Sangummal Beach 14. Rameshwaram Light House 15. APJ House 16. Rameshwaram Railway Station 17. Pamban Railway Station 18. Kothanda Ramar Temple 19. Ruins - old church, railway station, etc. and ofcourse 20. Dhanushkodi Beach We finished all these and settled at our hotel by 18:30. We again chose to stay at the same hotel like in 2017, Pearl Residency. An average hotel, but does cater to our bed, breakfast requirements well. We started to Bangalore from the hotel, after a quick morning drive to Dhanushkodi, by 10:30AM. We parked the car at our home by 17:30 hours, good drive through and through, with one stop for fuel. 7.00 hours from Rameshwaram to Home. Kungfu Panda by now is about 1.5 years and almost 51K on odo. It will be his second visit to Rameshwaram in 1.5 years and after 50,000Kms. Odo Reading at start.  We did some good averages, thanks to the good roads through and through and also due to the early start. We bypassed Madurai, and took Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram route to Rameshwaram  Our first stop was at Khushi Beach (also known as ariyamaan beach), we reached there by 09:00AM  Reaching Khushi Beach Casuarina trees dotted the beach  We found the beach to be dug up for some reason  We investigated the pit, could not figure out why it was all dug up     Finally ended up making our own version of Grand Canyon  It was the imagination and creativity of Sr. PPG to make me click that way   continued... |

It was not deep at all  We also dipped our feet in water, and clicked some pictures        It was then I noticed a warning board at the beach   It states in the month of March to June swarms of Jelly fishes are found in the beach. And first aid for a sting is mentioned. We immediately got out of water and decided to move on.  Number to call in case of emergency  Khushi Beach By 09:30 we left the beach and drove towards Pamban Bridge continued... |

We decided to stop there for Lunch. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon. Ramar Padham to Hotel Tamil Nadu Hotel Tamil Nadu had only vegetarian buffet lunch priced at some Rs 200. We did not want a full course lunch and checked if they had alacarte. They did not, so we decided to give the full course lunch a skip. Just outside Hotel Tamil Nadu is Olaikadu Beach, and little further is Sangummal beach. Olaikadu Beach as seen from Hotel Tamil Nadu We then drove towards the light house passing Olaikadu beach and Sangummal Beach. | Re: S-Cross'd : Land's End (Dhanushkodi) Day 01 : 13th July 2019 : Saturday Bangalore - Rameshwaram We drove from LIghthouse back to the town, first visiting Lakshmana Theertham Rameshwaram Light House to Lakshmana Theertham Then we drove to Pancha Mukhi Hanuman Temple to see the floating stones which were used to build the bridge for Rama to reach Lanka. Lakshmana Theertham to Pancha Mukhi Hanuman Temple The temple is very much on the road entering Rameshwaram from Pamban Bridge We parked Kungfu Panda and went to take a look  The Pancha Mukhi Hanuman Temple Entrance   No photos are allowed  We then drove towards APJ's Home Pancha Mukhi Hanuman Temple to APJ House Since it was a narrow road, we parked at the wider portion and walked to his house. The narrow road to his home  APJ Home   After visiting his home last time I was not very happy. The second floor is a shopping center for souvenirs !! We walked back to car  continued... |

Its very near to APJ Home and Rameshwaram Railway Station. Its a no frills hotel, decent rooms, vegetarian food, ample car parking space. We reached the hotel by 14:00, and immediately got our family room. White swans waiting for us   Bathrooms are spacious and with hot water  We quickly had Rice and Dal for lunch.  I had forgotten to switch recording off, so while we were at the hotel having lunch video was still getting recorded. So, a Time Lapse at the Hotel  continued... |
