Thank you TEAM. Prices in JLR resorts starts above 2000/- and goes around above 4000/- and Kabini is most costly one.

I heard today there is fire in Nagarhole forest range which is very much disturbing news its happening every year. My daughter is very upset about this. She is already thinking about state/trauma of animals there and planning to invite them to stay in our home.

Ravi.

Nice pics Ravi and the FE you have got is also good. I hope you enjoy travelling and not driving, is this correct? Because wherever you go it will be your driver enjoying the driving be it Innova or alto...

Ravi.

Forest fire has become common in Nagarhole am not sure if its done intentionally by some selfish people....hope the fire is bought under control.

Good news is on the TN coast a good cloud is getting built up so hope it would bring some good rain in a day or 2 which should help in bringing the fire to control.

Hi! Bhatt,
Is this the road near Kundapur river on one side & arabian sea on other?
Your Travelogues/ photos are excellent. Good you have been able to see the ever elusive Tiger at Kabini ( is it Nagarhole?). You have refreshed my memories of these NH17 Roads & places .

Kiran

Revisiting Bannergatta !!

May 03, 2009: Our relative reached our place a day back to attend MAT 2009 Exams. Her exam centre being T John College, Gottigere. So we got opportunity to visit Bannergatta side since its hardly 5km from there and also we had 2 hours of free time.

Vehicle: BLUE Alto LXI, Myself, my wife and daughter.

We made quick plan of action a day in advance and started from our house at 7:45AM today and filled Fuel at Shell, Mysore road and proceeded via ring Road - took NICE road (this stretch is not opened yet as 1km stretch is not ready, no rain so took this short cut and please dont try this stretch as its extremely risky place) near PES college in ring road. Reached Bannergatta road in 30 minutes (thanks to smooth NICE ride).

We dropped our relative to exam room and proceeded to Bannergatta and our safari started at 9:45AM after waiting 10 minutes in the Queue.

By this time we spotted White peackok.

One good thing I noticed is this new BJP Government is building infrastructure very fast. One can see smooth road during Safari. GOOD JOB!!

Soon we came across spotted and sambar dears.

Then we entered bear park and spotted few.

New smooth rode ensured no bumpy/dusty boring drive as before. Also staff is smooth this time I can see and tourists are free to shout etc.. and also gave them 50/- tips as they helped me a lot to take beautiful pictures.

Then comes Lion and Tiger area:

Lioness reaching our BUS.

Lions resting and watching the show of humans shouting at them: I can see animals are in better mood/shape this time even this is dry month as they get more food/water and staff is taking care of them better day by day (also thanks to few private big companies who involved in adpot/courtesy program)

TIGER Safari: This involved normal and white tiger. Animals looked clean / charming and also ambiance. More trees are grown from last few years in Bannergatta. I am sure very soon it will become best safari spot.

Final Part - Butterfly Park and more STORY

I am loading more photos of butterfly park, sorry for loading too many pictures.

There are many type of flying winged jewels aka butterflies, its very difficult to capture good photos as they keep move around and tourists movement make them keep changing their location.

There are 3 stages in butterfly park.

1. butterfly house has butterflies and garden.

2. Full details about type of buttflies with models.

3. butterfly vedio: This feature is not available for sometime for maintanance.

Every where there is lot of sign boards so we can glance and get lot of details. this is best place for people who do study on butterflies. I suggest If one is serious about it and want to take full knowledge spend at least 3 hours there.

It was close to 12noon we left bannergatta and reached college back to wait for 10 minute to receive our relative who came out after completing Exams. Then ladies wanted to have lunch and ice cream as usual. I told them lets try MTR this time near lalbhag and we travelled Bannergatta road - nice road - kanakapura road - banashankari temple - southend circle - jc road - mtr hotel to find regular south indian meals has waiting Q of 1 hour (as usual) and checked into side by mtr self sevice hotel. Ordered mouth watering food and also special ice creams and checked out by 2:40PM to coem back home. WE reached home by 3:15pm in hot weather but alto AC at speed level 3 made us cool down

That completes great travelling and fun we had as per plan!

Regards,

Ravi.

October 2009 Holidays Part I

Ok, So my daughter is completing her mid term exams on Oct. 1st. So debate started If we need to go by car or BUS. I had booked bus tickets but still made plans If we go by car (Alto or Safari which I might buy although negotiation going on for couple of weeks.) My old driver reached Bangalore by Oct. 1st and I had already test drove and checked old Safari that I had seen few weeks back. I cancelled bus tickets which easy job since mad rush was there in ticketing. I went ahead to complete payment and paper work to take that Safari home by evening after filling Petrol full tank in Shell altough they wanted to pour Diesel into it. I made sure I carried every original docs as well since I was still not owner of that vehicle.

We are ready to start by 7AM on October 2nd. Full smile on my daughter because we are going to see her grand parents and tons of relatives. So destination is around Sirsi-Ankola for 2 weeks vacation.

We took magadi road and NICE highway to tumkur road to find huge traffic jam and decided to return and go via magadi-CR Pattana-Arasikere and reached Shimoga by 2PM. Magadi road untill NICE road junction was not in good shape, but its good hear last week they have done some repair work. After that it aas very nice drive except few diversions in Mangalore highway. While crossing every town road is not smooth and has potholes near Tarikere/bhadravati/Shimoga etc.. Ordered lunch in Jewel Rock and my tricks to convince my family to roam around the palce started and within 5 minutes I booked homeStay Gabadi River Edge Gabadi River Edge - Homestays in Shimoga, Agumbe, Shringeri, Jog Falls, Jain Temple Humbacha, Thirthahalli which is 18km before Teertahalli. Very beautifull place on the banks of Tunga river.

COST: 1500/- per head per day including food and some discount on it.

Next day we travelled to Ankola via Huncha-Sagara-Jog-Honnavara. It rained heavily we enjoyed the travel.

Ravi.
