Bangalore to Leh in two Gypsy's- covered 8000 KM in 18 days

Leh trip was planned during last munnar OTR and it was shear coincidence vijay (swastikviji) was also interested in Leh trip. It was decided that we will leave in second week of June when the roads are opened. Every OTR we used to discuss our trip and planned accordingly with lots of input from offroading friends and special thanks to Dwaraka who guided us immensely.
We decided to leave on June 9th but my Gypsy was not ready I guess just two days before leaving front shaft started to make some strange sound in city driving firstly I thought its small issue just 10 days back I had serviced my Gypsy fully, I took it to my regular service centre Suraksha to check it. It was found that both the ends of shaft not rotating properly tried for nearly 1 hour to make it smooth but I guess it was manufacturing defect. Now I knew getting new part of gypsy will take at least 4-5 days and postponing my trip. But lokesh of suraksha centre requested me to postpone just one day and he will get parts in one day but I was 100% it will take 4 days. I decided to postpone one day, next day I went to workshop to check whether my new shaft has arrived I was shocked to see new shaft, it was shear effort of lokesh who got it in one day and I have no words to thank him for his effort, every Gypsy owner knows how difficult it's to get parts. It took only 15 mins to fix and Gypsy was ready to leh trip.

Route taken to reach Manali

Bangalore-Pune-Thane Godbunder road- Vapi- Surat- Ahmadabad(Sardar patel ring road)-Udaipur-Jaipur-Behror- Rewari-Rohtak-Panipat-Ambala-Banur- Rupnagar(Roopar)-Bilaspur-Mandi-kullu-Manali.

We by passed Delhi and Chandigarh and it was good decision saved lot of time.

A teaser photo...

Most travelogues seems to have hyped the destination and drive too much. I am waiting to get a realistic view of the trip, and hope this is the one .

Very interesting teaser.

laluks: The route is just broken high altitude - that means loss of power and care while going through some sections. Rest its just horribly overhyped - its just a road. Its no endurance test (Marsimek etc maybe due to high alti sand as per bulleteers who did it) - definitely not for car guys who are sitting cocooned in AC.

Its become the chawdi bazaar - everyone's going there. Soon it'll be as mad as Rohtang

Waiting for more Sha.. Don't delay, or you run the risk of getting banned from here for ever....

How did you manage to get permits for Marisimik La. We didn't get. Wonder why?

I'll be very inetersted to see this battle between the Gypsy & the Volvo. Do show the pics of it being towed...
