Sorry its OT, but I just feel all the Getz and i10/20 are so hyped up.
Koreans being the underdogs, try harder to make their cars better. Usually janta, like sheep, blindly go for the jap logos/badges, even if some of the cars are crap. You should try driving a Getz Diesel !

ph03n!x , ECR is a good drive but driving here requires lot of gear changes , to accommodate the killer curves , the goats and the villages Your driving style would have to be very spirited to do this . My understanding of highway driving is more sedate but high speed driving with less gear changes for example a drive from Bangalore to chennai .The power plant that you have under your hood is on gem of an engine and you treat her soft she gives your good mileage . I regularly return figures of upto 23 kmpl on runs from BLR to chennai on my Verna with AC at 50% and touching speeds of upto 140 kmph. Sedate acceleration is the key . Oh yes i am running the Petes box. Gotta try the RD ECU once.

BF Goodrich G-sport. Honestly, Anup get some good tires this time around. Atleast you can unleash all those torques under the hood.

Or One weekend why don't you guys do a drive down here , Stay i will take care of at the resort i am put up at, you can also meet up with the chennai getzies and vernas. The performance boost at sea level is also quite noticeable.

That sounds very exciting. Let me talk the boys Anup! Maybe we can even take the getz on a few laps around the track to see how it handles.

Shyam
I've only driven Santro, Accent, Getz Petrol
I've not Driven Getz CRDi.

Well I don't think I really want to, it does't feel like it.
Swift is not upto the mark ? Numbers must lie then and Maybe you should rephrase.

Seriously there are only few roads we can do that kind of speeds in relative safety so just because top-end in not there and car is s dud ?

Punto is wayyyyyyyy slower than Swift, does that alone make it a really bad car ? There is more to a car that top end and 0-100 times for most people. Well, Swift is my kinda tea and Getz just isn't.

But most people have this mental block towards Hyundai's. Which is quite sad.
Yes you are right and I guess I belong to that category.

The Getz is unfortunately very underrated. And the I20 deserves all the praise its getting at the moment (albeit, I would have preferred it with the Verna motor). One has to drive these cars over a period of time to really know how different they are from the other cars. At first, you might have to get used to it, but its these things that grow on you, that always end up being more special.
Well, some of the folks I know have Getz (Petrol) I've not yet seen a "happy" Getz petrol owner. i20 ? I still think all the stories and reviews are being glorified.

Quote:
Vikram, IIRC the speedo indicated 200kmph. The tire upsize has a 4.6% error and thus the speedo under reads. 80% of the trip was done at speeds of 140+ coupled with around 45kms of ghats, peak city traffic. The Getz returned 13.xx kmpl.
Impressive indeed.

Well, there are people who call Yamaha as crap, you are saying all Jap is crap ? so be its it your view, I respect that.
All I'm saying is, I think Hundai as a manufacturer is crap and is being overly glorified. Just because they plonked in a 110bhp engine onto Getz a car in my view that handles like a sack of potatoes and to have more fun axed the production. Now many are calling it "car is an epic/end of an era kinda thing"

PS : @mclaren1885 any more pics man ?

Not everyone is as discerning as some swift owners on this forum. Those who are, have stood by the facts.

Dude! Have you sat in a car that doesn't rattle? Every swift I have seen rattles like crazy, the engine IMO isn't all that great. The chassis is. Truth is I find the swift a dud, period.

I suggest you drive the Getz and then make a comment. How biased can we be?

You are entitled to your opinion.

Actually, Yamaha makes some very easy to ride SBK's. I would never buy an R1 or an R6. They are for amateurs. If you really want to own a SBK pick up the 6R or 10R for starters or a Gixxer. You will surely kill yourself . So you see, my thinking comes from a different planet.

That is quite a strong statement to make, specially given that you haven't had a lot of experience driving these cars over extended periods of time.

Ya? And how did you conclude that it handles like a potato? Since you haven't driven it. Its these wrong, preconceived notions that do more harm than good for a person looking to buy a new car. Sigh!

Quote:

It could be! Just like the era for enthusiastic driver cars ended with the days of GTX, Lancer, Esteem, Baleno, OHC Vtec, the days of powerful diesels might have just ended with the Getz. Just hope, the diesel clan doesn't go the same way the petrol market has gone. FE and more FE way.

Might have a few! But those can't be posted on the forum .

I had heard once that the Getz diesel was launched with the same engine as Verna. Is that true? If that's the case it could be a slightly overdesigned engine for a car its size. Not that anyone would be complaining - I would be happy to drive one!

Anup! That looks delicious to the eyes. *rushing off to make some phone calls*. See you soon.

pjay, it is true. And no the engine isn't oversized or overdesigned. Infact, for some of us the power is not enough . Take a look at this modded Getz Crdi.

Hey guys this is not a swift vs getz thread. to each his own. There is no purfect car as there is no purfect girl.
Loved the photos. would a polarizing filter made the skies bluer and the window and windscreen glass transparent?

Hellstar -: Beautiful cottage that you got to stay. Where in the ECR is this?

I think the Bangy Getz/Verna guys can drive down to this place for sure. Would be great to spend a weekend there.

Any plan guys?

Well buddy, since you have driven the Getz Crdi on the highway or in city for that matter, it would be better if you can refrain from making a sweeping statement. It doesn't handle as good as a Punto/Palio or maybe Swift to a certain extent, but you can't term it as you did.

MMSC - Madras Motor Sports Club

I'm gonna miss it

EDIT:

I cannot, only one I've driven was a petrol and it was no rocket, was not a good handler either.
Maybe my view is wrong.

Did't mean to say all people will not like Getz, some might and some does.
Maybe "if" I drive one that might change my mind

Did't mean to offend any Getz lovers, sorry.
