YetiBlog® - Tuesday 22nd Dec 2009

Even though I feel awful, I cannot sleep around all day. We finally get out for a little bit.
It is beautiful - but it is not nice outside. Or perhaps it is me.

My nose is blocked jammed shut. The humidity is high, the snow is still around me but now it is not soft, clean and powdery. It turns into slush with every step and it is bloody slippery.

Now that it has stopped snowing and the temperature has risen (marginally) above zero, I'm in for quite a shock when I see the streets of Bad Nauheim.

This is definitely one part of winter I am NOT a fan of.

My beloved Bad Nauheim park has turned into a white frozen park.

Finally we meet up with family in a little Austrian cafe for Kaffee und Kuchen - Coffee and Cake - a typical German tradition.

The cafe is warm and nice and the coffee is hot. It makes me feel a lot better and dryer.

Love the Schneemann . Was he named? Brush his teeth? I was more worried about how the hell he is going to smoke?

Evening, Tuesday, 22nd December 2009

The cafe is wonderful as usual. I especially love the part where you choose your cake. It feels wonderful Like being a child again.

I walk over to the cake counter and point out at a traditional cheesecake and the lady beams and nods.

Das, mit ein milchkaffee bitte say I.
Okay she smiles.
It's wonderful.

Many smiles later, it is time to go. TheOne® has an errand to run so I take the bus home. The bus drops me off on the main road and I walk home, taking some photos on the way.

By the time I'm home, the sun is busy yawning.

How short indeed are the days.

I am sick with a severe cold. My head is heavy and it hurts. No matter how much I clear my nose, it keeps getting jammed.

Looks like I'm going to be sick during Christmas.

Houses are rarely heated, almost none feature permanently installed heating equipement that is wither hot water or oil based.

Sure people do buy hot oil filled radiators today, but it is purely a luxury.

Some people use an electic heater, a dangerous firestarting contraption that is essentially a rather large hair dryer in a shoebox. Something like this:
Another point, noone to do it also for homes, no demand. I always wanted to do it the UK way bit was never able to find someone to do it in India.

Looks like the cold weather did not agree with you.
As for Delhi cold, even when the min temperature is 2 degree C, its usually at 2-3am. From morning to night, temp rarely falls below 10 degree C even on the coldest of days!

Two absolutely fantastic shots!. Nice large blowups would be a nice idea.
Small correction done here but you can send me these two (actual size) if you wish.

The words and the pictures have me glued to this thread, and yes even i'm impatient.

Suman da, I said rarely, not "never". Yes, there were those 8 degree at 11am days, but far and few.
