Should we carry on the discussions about saving forests here?

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...-wildlife.html

considering this is a beautiful travelogue meant to educate people on the beauty of wildlife?

that "moving in the forest pic" has a hypnotizing effect. If you keep looking at it it looks like an animated photo instead of still. or may be its just me

Highwaylover,
Yes, as it is shot at a slow shutter speed it gives the impression of motion when we see it on the screen too.

Loved your photos. Hope I get some good shots when I go to Bandhavgarh this month end. Pench and Tadoba are next on my radar.

Sparkled,
This is the time to be there until May, the waterholes are are already at their lowest, don't know what will happen in summer. It will be a very hard time for the animals but good time for sighting.

Vinay,

Your Kabini pics rock!

We had to shorten our trip due to circumstances. We would rather go to Bandhavagarh and second choice Kanha.

Regards,

Good animal sightings have become very rare in Kanha. Bandhavgarh is a much better bet. I was at Kanha the last december and compared to 2007 December the animal sightings have dropped significantly.

Kanha lost 12+ tigers in 2009-10 - not sure how many of these are from tourism zone. One tigress from Kisli tourism zone was relocated to Panna last year. The prey population is also on decline. All combined, things are not looking good for Kanha at this time.
Tiger sighting in Bandhavgarh is not as fun as sighting them in Kanha, Corbett or South India's forestes. I mean, if you are almost sure to see a tiger then there is no "thrill / suspense factor" :-)

Anyone has information on recent sightings at Kanha ?

I saw a tigress at Kisli in december 2009. My most memorable sighting was in Dec2007 when our Gypsy broke down and refused to start when 'Kaunda', then the star of Kisli, decided to walk along the path towards our gypsy. It was the most exciting yet dangerous encounter with a tiger yet.

Amazing!
Yes... later it must have been a great moment which you will never forget, but at that time the sheer helplessness would be immeasurable. Just too much to put into words.

I do not want to hijack the original thread here but could not resist the temptation of posting one of Kaunda walking towards our Gypsy. Thankfully the big guy was just a huge pussy cat who had no interest in us.

Sparkled,
It is in no way a hijack, a very welcome photograph of the massive male, head size shows it is a full grown, mature male. Keep them coming. A very good photograph, wish my Gypsy too fails.
