Incidentally this section is getting closed this month end for conversion to BG, so you may not see a train at this vantage point for the next couple of years at-least.

Lovely pictures of S. Tamil Nadu, well served by Thamiraparani. Thanks for sharing.

Hi mysticeyes, you said that you were send off on the wrong way to the kalakkad mundanthurai tiger reserve at kalakkad town. Did you eventually make it to the resrve or did you skip it ? What is the best way to Kalakkad mundanthurai tiger reserve if going feom TVM side? Planning a two day stay at the reserve on 19rh.

From Trivandrum it is best you come on NH47 till Nagercoil, then take the Trunelveli highway, turn off at Pankudi for Kalakad & Cheranmahadevi

I have family from Kallidai, Kalakad and Valliyur in that area and this is one of my favourite routes to drive around in. The roads are silky smooth these days or they were as late as last December which was when I’d last gone there.

Sorry I realise this is an age old thread but just wanted to thank the OP for reminding me I’m way overdue a trip in that direction.
