The petrol pump are located between Burnihat and Nongpoh. Ther's one more by Numaligarh Refinery Ltd or NRL of which i have no snap at the moment.

Snapshot of Nongpoh where the taxis stop for refreshment. The restaurent beside the transport complex with the tourism office is the best place to freshen up and eat around.

One more Sunday to hit the road and reach a new destination. So this time it was in search of Kharsati Nature Park in Kyrdemkulai in Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya.

Its a little after crossing Nongpoh to the right.

How is the traffic in these parts? Heavy vehicles dominate or bad drivers?

Well these hills are cut. Wil they be left the same way or is a concrete wall going to come up there as erosion would result if it is left to remain the same way.

The Wagon is too small to think of the humvee, got inspired by the classic Jeep though.
The locals here are very good drivers, they move slow and easy. The problem is taxi wallas who want to reach in flight time.

And though majority of truck drivers are well mannered, all of a sudden there appears those crazy few who just have to overtake trying to crush you into oblivion.

Good rubber and strong brakes a must on this highway, apart from slow driving.

Nops they are not going to do anything about the sides. If at all we may see a good quality drain on the side.

Erosion, landslides will be there till the soil harden up and some vegetation appears.

1 to 5 Cafe Swet Day Nongpoh. Clean place with both Indian and Chinese. Mostly visited by locals.












6-7 Woodland dhaba Clean but crowded. Good for rice or any Indian food

Dear San,
Just last summer I had the opportunity to visit the Coal India HQ in eastern Assam, in a tiny town named Margherita. I remember that from Dibrugarh to Tinsukia the rail lines move by the side of the road and there were a few potholes on the road up to Tinsukia. But the stretch from there to Margherita, via Digboy was really nice. Although it was a two lane road, the road was very smooth with not much traffic.
