I have a question. I have Yokohama AVS ES100 195/60/14 with Neo Sports Alloy Wheels on my Hyundai Accent. I will probably sell it soon and purchase a Swift VDi/VXi. Question is, can I use the same tubeless tyres on the swift without problems?

And, as far as I know the wheel nuts for Maruti are 1.25 while Hyundai and other cars' alloy wheel nuts size is 1.5. Does this mean I can't use the same alloy wheels and I should get a new set?

lynx, Although, 195/65/R14 is the right upsize for a Swift. 195/60R14 will work.
Accent and the Swift share the same PCD of 100.
So, you'll have to just use different lug nuts.

I have used the BF goodrich tyres on my prado. it had considerable road noise and i am not so sure if it is available easily.

After a 58,910km run on Michelin MXV8s, upgraded the SwifDy to Primary LC's today. My first impression was Wowwww; very silent and comfortable than the MXV8.

That's perfectly OK. Ask the tyre shop guys to take your least worn tyre from the original set and use it as the spare. Only thing is if you have a flat, you will have to replace the spare with the repaired tyre since otherwise it will look and feel terrible :D.
A-drives are awesome. I got them on nikhilb2008's advice and no regrets at all.

Hey Folks, looking for some guidance to help with my hunt in Chennai for 185x70R14 tires for my Swift. Looking to get Michelin Energy XM1+/Yoko-A.Drive/Apollo Accelere. Any suggestions on shops/tires very welcome.

Specifically, for 185x70R14, what is the model name/number of Yoko A.Drive and Apollo Accelere ? I looked at Tyrestore website and couldn't make immediate sense. Also, what markings on the tire, such as dates etc., do I need to check ? And what is the max permissible (oldest) date of manufacture ?

A drive is the model name under the Yokohama brand. The size is 185/70R14. Go to a good dealer in your city (Sorry! don't know Chennai, can't recommend any). The week and year of manufacture is printed on the sidewall, ask your dealer to help find it and ensure it's not more than say 3 months old.

OK, managed to google down the Yoko A.drive and Acelere tech spec listings.

So, it appears that within the Yoko A.drive and Apollo Acelere family, a size of 185/70R14 comes with a single set of ratings.

Now gotta hunt for a good shop in Chennai - all ideas welcome. Thanks !

Are Yokahoma A-drives available in the stock 165/80 tyre size for the swift? I'm assuming there will be marginal drop in FE if i opt for 185/70 section tyre! My dad is highly influenced by the 'kitna deti hai' maruti ads.:Frustrati

Im looking for excellent grip in wet and dry. I was told that the michelins have assymmetric pattern which is not existent with other companies in 14". Is this going to help in better road grip? I'm also looking at decent durability, hence would like the tyres to last atleast for 40k. Is the potenza up to it, since I have heard that Potenzas wear out quickly.

I saw a Swift sporting 195/65 Hankooks here in Trivandrum. This is also a correct size for the Swift. No idea on their performance though.

I have 205/60 Potenza GIII's on my Swift. They have done around 39k and except for 1 tyre all the rest look good for another 10k. My previous set of Potenza's did around 40k as well.

205s make the steering heavier and take away some of the agile feeling in the steering. Also the initial pickup and top speed is a bit blunted due to the higher friction and larger contact patch. But they give a superb grip around corners. Make your compromise.

I have used both 195s and 205s. 205s give the Swift an awesome look and tremendous road grip but I feel the 185 give you the best compromise in terms of handling, steering effort, and sharp steering.

That said - what am i going for next? - 205s :)
