Hey guys I am getting my Swift delivered next week. It is a VXi variant and I am planning to change the tyres ASAP. I have decided to get the Bridgestone Potenza G3 and I am planning to upsize to 15 inchers. What would be the right upsize, 195/60 R15 or 195/65 R15?

195/60 R15, a lot of threads already exist on this.

After going through all the threads on Swift VXi for tyre upgrade, I bought new ones today.

Yokohama 185/70 R14, Rs. 3850/- per tyre. Wheel Balancing and Alignment was done for free.

I'll getting my used Swift VDi in a few days. The car has run 33K KM and has the stock Tornados right now. I'm planning to change the tyres to 185/70/R14.

Reading the posts above I'll go most probably for Yoko A drives.

But I'm curious about the Apollo Accelere. How are they? And what is the current price for Yoko A drive and the Apollo Accelere?

in that size i suggest you to go with michelin energy xm1+ lower rolling resistance, and awesome grip and another good choice would be pirelli's tyres dont know the exact model in that size. yokohama's c-drives are okay and s-drives are good not the a-drives, but it isnt available in that size if i am not wrong. Apollo's grip in wet and other conditions has been questionable according to my experience.

the few hundered or a couple of thousand bucks that you would pay now would be well worth it in the long run, interms of the peace and mileage.

What I read in the thread that A drives are quite comparable to XM1+ and cheaper. So, I was thinking of getting that.
I run a set of XM!+ in my Zen and I love it. But if A drives are also comparable, I wouldn't mind saving a bit of money :) . BTW I don't mind the increased tyre noise.

Archat, in that case, A drives sound perfect for you. They are much cheaper and are equal to the XM1+ in almost every aspect.

BTW can you tell me the approx. cost for the A drives 185/70/R14 and Apollo Accelere 185/70/R14?

Yokohama A Drives are for Rs. 3850 and Michelin XM1+ were for Rs. 4500/-. Bridgestone ER60 were being priced at 4150 and they had a sports variant of the same at 4250.

No idea about Apollo Acelere though.

P.S. : After putting A Drives, its a huge difference in driving for me personally.

I have a July 2005 Swift VXi which has clocked 45k. I plan to change my stock tyres (JK ). How to decide that the tyres needs replacement ? My tyres still have prominent pattern and no visible wear and tear. Only issue which i face is even after regular wash the JK's look dirty. Is it a common problem ? My daily usage is 10 km.

I have zeroed down on Michelin Energy XM1+ (185/70/14) or Yoko A drives (185/70 R14). any preference? Any dealer suggestions in Bangalore ?How much refund should i get for my existing tyres ?

Hi Nishan, Looks out for Tread wear indicator (more info in Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 2 of 4). Going by your description you may still use the tyres for another 3 to 5k kms. I am not very sure on the dirtiness of your tyres, there are specific tyre wash solutions available which you can try.
If cost is not an issue go for Michelin, otherwise Yokos should do the job very well for you. I do not think you will get any refund for 45k run tyres.

I shall check my tyres today itself and check the need for replacement.

I don't intend to keep my car for another 30k-40k km's and hence I'm also restricting the cost. Would Yokos be equally good as JK at-least ?

Do generally Swift Owner's face issues with factory fitted JK tyres ? I tried all possible cleaning solutions but once cleaned they look the same. Any suggestions ?

Hi Nishan,

It is not fair to compare Yokos with JK or MRF. Yokos are in the league of Michelins and Bridgestones. I think you have not gone through this thread which is a great testimony for Yoko A-drives. Yokos are far better than stock JKs.
I do not have any other suggestions on the dirtiness of JKs. Maybe experts can pitch in to give any suggestions.

Have you tried some tyre cleaning spray that are available in market? You can also try to clean the tyre with soapy water and a brush, then dry and then apply Glycerine diluted with water to the outside wall and let it dry. It will give you some black and wet look but wouldn't last longer.

I use the tyre polishes which are available in market but just like the hair color wades off, this also looses its shine in a week. Do we have some permanent solution for it ?
