Thanks for the compliment for Alloys. I know that I am using a wrong tire size, but there are not many good options in 196/65, So I went in for 195/60 profile.

I moved to Singapore recently from Bangalore (on a 2 year Employment pass) and the first thing that I bought here within a month was a 2006 Nissan Sunny 1.6 M. Not a fancy vehicle by any stretch of imagination but still in a different league than my 2 Santros that I drove for nearly 9 years in India :-)

As it turns out Sunny already has a bad reputation for Fuel Economy in Singapore and so I was rather concerned when I realized later that the car has +2 Upsized tires, which look beautiful but I feared must drag the FE down further.

Original tyres on this car are supposed to be 185/ 65 R15 but the previous owner has changed the rim and put in Yoko Proxes T1R tyres with 205/50 R16 specs. I had no clue before today about Yoko.
PROXES T1R | Toyo Tires

Initially I was toying with the idea of using some trading websites to go back to stock tires but now seems like I don't have to trade in these tyres after all :-) Not sure why would anyone put in such high performance tyres in a sedate car like Sunny !!

PS: On a related note, the first full tank FE was 13.8 km/ltrs, which is not bad at all for a sedan like Sunny

It's not Yoko, but Toyo! I love the alloys. Look like Lenso Samurais.

Hey everyone,

Just got her some new size 16 shoes!

Maxxis Victra MA-Z1
205/50 R16

Wheels: Lenzo
PCD: 4 x 100
Size: 16 x 7J

Got them from Karan Tyres in Karol Bagh.
Total for 4 rims + 4 tyres = INR 30,000 (gave in 4 of my original ZXi rims after doing 55K kms - 5th rim remains as the spare like a 'space saver'. This one won't fit in the spare tyre well!).

Its a rip off of Lenso. design is good but i will not advice going in for unbranded once. as wheels are things that cannot be compromised on.

Nice choice Dynomite.
I love this design.
Although these rims are now quite common but still i think they look great ,and 16` are looking big enough ,good comprise between looks and ride quality.

I know tons of people both on and off the forum who are using unbranded rims and its not as bad as some people think.
It depends on how/where you drive.

Those Lenzos look like a "ripoff" of the AC Schnitzer "ripoffs"

But looks good. How's the ride with 16" ?

@abhinav.gupta88 - yes, these aren't the original. That would push the price up by more than 10k total.

@SirAlec - I wasn't too worried about them being rip offs. I've bought from the same guy before (My Brother's Scorpio has some amazing rims and Maxxis tyres, got them almost 2 years back. No problems at all. Plus the owner of the tyre shop has the same tyres and the same rims on his Honda City - So I knew he'd choose the best for himself too.

@faithless_1984 - True. But that Scorpio has been through several outstation trips (Including one where some sharp rocks cut a rear tyre to shreds and the rim was dragged along the road with sparks flying. I have a pic of that - should post it actually - hah). There's been no problem with the rim apart from a few scratches which were covered up easily.

@Fountainheader - You're right about AC Scnitzer. In fact, here's a pic of the original AC Scnitzer design that they copy. (except of course, that these have 5 bolt holes and mine have 4.

I was actually shocked by how much the ride has imporved as compared to my old JKs. Its much smoother and softer. But I think my old tyres had really become hard at 55k, so the immediate difference was immense. Not to mention the roadholding. But of course, I drive on mostly smooth roads, going from south delhi to gurgaon on the expressway. When you go over a sharp bump or something, you do feel it more, but that's a price I was willing to pay for the way they look. And strangely enough, I thought the steering would be heavier, but its not. I think the electronic power steering automatically adjusted. Has anyone experienced heavier steering after changing to wider tyres?

Also, @Fountainheader - I think the next purchase should be those awesome projectors that you have. You got them from Viper right? They're slightly different from the other brand 'Junyan' that I've seen. The Junyan ones have three separate LEDs that light up as the parking lights?

But anyhow - thanks for the comments

dynomite,
Dont bother too much about "ripoffs". Those wheels really look great on the Swift. Though I'm still curious about the ride quality on 16". I've recently upgraded tyres from 195/60/15 to 205/55/15 and can see a bit stiffness in the ride. But not something that I cant live with

And the projectors setup is now sold. I wont recommend those if you do highway trips or drive around places without sufficient street lighting.
