Anything more than 165 on a Zen is a definite no unless you are ready to compromise on a lot of things.

165/60 r13 would be ideal on 5J alloy rims.

My ex-zen had 165/65 r13 on traxx 13" x 5j rims which were bigger tyres i.e. the OD was bigger than the stock but it looked swell because it filled up the wheel wells completely. If you do this you will have a speedometer error and you will need to bend the inside of the wheel arches.

Alloys dont cause the speedo error its the tyre size that does....

Size of the alloys or rims can affect the handling, ride quality n also fittment like 5.5J alloys with 165/60-13 in a zen will touch while taking a full turn

Yesterday we took out my friends zen to be fitted with tyres and alloys.

He selected the Bridgestone Turanza 165/60/r13 and im guessing 5j alloys.
He was in a great hurry to finish the work and get back to mysore so the dealer had suggested that he go for 175 of even 185 as he had those readily available but I convinced him that anything mor ethan 165 would cause a lot of problems so finally ordered 165.

I just got a call from my friend saying the sides of the front tyres are touching the arches and I suggested her can beat the inside panels but he is weary of doing htis as he just got the entire car repainted last week.

He has requested me to find out what other options he has (shocks/raising body etc) and the approximate costs of such a mod and pros/cons.

This is what I told him to go in for and looks like my guess was a good one! Also he was carrying the old tyres in the car with rims as well as his parents so the load was probably affecting the tyre as well.

A little doubt. Will 155/70/R13s be an ok upsize for a zen ? I currently have 145/80/R12s and want to go the 13 inch and 155 way.
Would 155/70/R13 touch the front insides or scrape the rear insides at full load?

Has anybody tried out the 12" tyres of Bridgestone Potenza g3? It works as 165 60 R12.
My dealer says there will be a marginal reduction in profile height, but i have height spacers on my ZEN anyway!!

165/60-12 is too small for a Zen which already has low GC.

In 12" its better to stick with stock size.

Overall wheel diameter would decrease. Speedo error, increase in low end grunt, lower top speed in-gear, improvement in handling and braking would be the after effects. Ofcourse lower ground clearance will have to be factored in. Although i'm using that profile wouldn't reccommend it as it is a very user specific choice.

No spacers. Why do you want spacers? No problems when loaded as wheel circumference is reduced.

And in my question to you was about height spacers, above the post! just wondering about the lower GC on 165 60 r 12.....wont it touch base if on humps?? .shall i go for it? or stock ones.......145 80 r 12!

New Tyres and Alloys...

Hello Experts, I have a Zen LX (old shape) MPFi, no power steering. I upgraded the stock MRF ZVTS 145/80 R12 to Goodyear GP2 same profile since on the MRF rubber was cracking slsightly after 45K+...I am looking to put alloys now and tubeless tyres.

Now i am have read almost every thread there is on Zen Alloys and tyres options. I know most vouch for 165/60 R13 especially Potenza G3 (no.t too many available in this size i guess). Keeping this info i already have (from the various thread) here are my questions:

1. Requirement Number one is cool alloys (i know looks are subjective but anyway). Aura's are out since i dont like them at all. Neo's may be. But i am interested in designs that are different...So what options do i have in bangalore in 12" and 13". Where can i get imported rims or even stallions?

2. I have seen 165/60 R13 Potenza G3 for 2700/tyre and 155/65 R13 XM1+ for 2600/tyre. What other option do i have in terms of better performance brands? I would like great grip, handling, light steering, braking and ride quality all in one with good looking tyres. Even 12" are ok by me..

Please suggest what options are available, keeping in mind that i wouldn't like to put spacers etc if given an option.

I wanna seal the deal this weekend i possible. Please suggest !!!
