15 x 6J would be fine for 195/50-15 and 5.5J for 185/55-15. But, I doubt if u would get 5.5J rims in 15".

195/50-15 tires would be easily available and u would have many tire options..
In 185/55 i think only MAXXIS is available. Nitrous is the official importer.

Anthony - What rim size are you looking at?? 15" would be a very, very tight fit on the Esteem IMO.

well well interesting question, i too need some input..
i currently have 185/60/R13 eagle venturas on my limited esteem since 4 years.
planning to upgrade to a bigger rim so was thinking 185/60/R14 will provide the same ride as my current tyres but will provide no performance advantage (due to same profile of tyres and bigger rim)

So the question is 185/55/R14 or 195/50/R15? I know the 15inch setup will kill the suspension so am leaning towards the 185/55/R14.

how bad is the ride going to suffer as compared to 185/60/R13.
anyone?

JRD...185/60R13 is not the right size for esteem.185/55R14 is recommended but i dont think its available in reputed brands. For best handling & comfort , go for 195/60R14.
Best options-Bridgestone ER60 or Michelin XM1.will cost Rs.4000/tyre approx.

I'd be running 15s in my esteem if I could source a set of 185/55/R15.
Else its going to be 185/60/R14 with a design that looks "15".

Most 14" rims I've seen are 6J. That is more than enough for 185/60/R14.
Stick to this wheel/tyre size combo. Perfect for the Esteem wrt looks and traction.

Need Help?

Hey guys, its time to change the rubber for my esteem.
Currently i am running 175 on 13' rims.
Its 1998 type 1 carbbed esteem, yes the M1000 shape.
I need alloys but dont know should i upszie.
Now the second issue is, my car runs just 2 months in a year.i.e. when i am in India, and rest of the time it is taken for a ride by the mechanic once a month.
What kind of tyres should i opt for, and which brand.
Dont want the new ones to get cracked soon.
Please suggest the right size of alloys tyres and what brand and type to go for?

Yogi - Given that its a Carb Esteem, there's really no point in upsizing further. Stick to 175/70 R13 and fit a nice pair of alloy on to it. And tyres you can consider are Michelin XM1, Yoko A.Drive, Apollo Accelere etc.

Hey Ishaan thanks man....wont upsize then.
The major concern is i don't want the new tyres to crack, as the car doesnt even move for 6 months.
