...I am getting no where with this thread...
Thought Four Seasons first, but not after the review above..
Thought I should stay away from importers because of lack of warranty..whats the warranty anyway...?
Then thought methods, but they are not around Mumbai/Pune..?
So now what..?

Did you call up Methods to check with them? they are official Importers/Distributors.

Not too sure, but I don't think Methods deals in OZ anymore.

225/55R16, fine for Skoda 1.8?

Hi,
I am getting a decent deal on a set of tyres in the size: 225/55R16.
Is there anyone using these tyres on their Octys?
Can a guru run me over its pro's and con's.
I know a better size would be 225/50R16, but is this profile too much or is it ok?
Please consider that these will be on a 1.8TPI, and hence the suspensions are a bit stiffer then the regular 1.9TDi, similar to the vRS.
Will they be ok or will they be way too big.
(Currently I am running 195/65R15, and for these 225/55R16 will be on different alloys needless to say...)
Thank you for the help.
Cheers,
Nanu

Nanu, I think that 225/55 will foul with the wheel arches especially at the rear.

if you really want to do the proper way.. see the info on the inside of the fuel lid (recommended tire pressure) which is usually 195 on 15, 205 on 16 and 225 on 17. anything else is sub-optimal.. IMHO.

i was also shopping for similar stuff and i have decided to stick to 205 on 16X6.5 rims. unfortunately the dealer never reverted back and i am yet to complete the shopping.. hopefully i will get to complete the shopping before my next long drive.

Unfortunately, the deal is only on this sized tyre.
iraghava, even i was thinking of the same, but the person says he has been using them on the Octy and has no issues, how can I confirm this?
Is there any other option but to take it to a tyrewala and to put this tyre on to check. But I doubt anyone will let me just check?

Thanks for the help.

Nanu, I got 225/50/16 PP2s last week. Amazing tires!!
I was running the same size previously. No idea about the 55 profiles though.

Nanu - I checked out the deal you're getting. It looks fine in pictures before putting any money down for it, I would suggest you give the merchandise a personal inspection & watch out for the following things:

1. Any bends/cracks/abrasions in the rims.
2. Any tears or bulges in the tyres.
3. Condition of the finish on the wheels.
4. How much is the wear on the tyres already.
