Mods, I searched but couldn't find a thread on this. Please do the needful if a thread on this exists. Thanks.

Gurus, my dad is getting a Civic S MT. He wants to upgrade from the stock 195/65/R15s.
Considering Calcutta roads, he won't go above 16s. Which set of shoes to get? Michelins or Yokos? My tire guy says that though he'll be able to arrange Yokos, there'll be no warranty on those. But, my dad wants the best tire/rim combo. I don't mean BBS/OZ by that!
I've been offered 15k for the stock alloys and 20k for the Bridgestones that come with the car.

205/55/R16 on Yokohamas or Michelins.
Both are good.

Possible up sizes are:

205/65-15
215/60-15
225/55-15

205/55-16
215/55-16
225/50-16

Do ensure that you buy good quality wheels with the correct width (depending upon the chosen tyre size), offset & PCD (114.3).

You could go for the following tyres from Michelin & Yokohama:

Michelin Pilot Primacy
Michelin Energy MXV8
Yokohama ES 100
Yokohama S-Drive

Get Yokohama AVS sport.
205/55-16
215/55-16
225/50-16

I think that should be the other way round.

16" wheels is perfect. I like the honda accord's 3L Vtec old 16" rims as well as the new ones but am not sure of the PCD.

Best size is 205/55-16 (perfect upsize).

Agree with Nitrous on the size for 16s. The only issue is options are very less both in Rim designs and tyre sizes (atleast in Bangalore).

So I went ahead with GoodYear GSD3 225/45/17 on 7J White Lenso rims. The car is White too and must say it looks amazing.

I have done a few tests and the tyres don't touch the inside of the wheel archs. The car is only 2 weeks old and I have not tried driving it with full load. So far I have not had any issues except that the ride quality has deteriorated a tad bit.

Anyone else using the same combo?

Also, you have been offered very good prices on your tyres. Are they for 5 or for 4? I gave 4 tyres for 9k. I have been offered 12.5 for 4 rims, so works out the same as your offer.

i have seen a civic with the old 3.0l accord's 16" rims, and it looks nice and simple.so thats an option.

Thanks for the inputs guys! Going with 205/55R16s. Will this do anything to improve the GC?
Had my eyes on the Yokos but, the "no warranty" bit is troubling me. What do you guys suggest? Go ahead with Yokos?
The choice of alloys is very limited in Calcutta. Its either League or Plati. The stock rims, if I'm not mistaken are 15x6J right? But, most of the League rims are 7J. Will this be a problem?

No warranty Yoko is funny especially since Yoko is officially in the market now. I could try & find out the number of Yoko's Cal representative if you want.

Also, 205's on 7J would be absolutely fine, no issues there even though the best is 6.5J but you can live with a 0.5 inch compromise without any issues.

Sir, that'll be really helpful.

Sorry Shuv, just confirmed with them & it seems like Yoko India does not have a dealer/distributor network in your area yet. Guess you'll have to go with either the grey market Yoko's or the expensive Michelin's.

How about the 3L Vtec's alloys. both the new and old ones look sweet. Ishan can you confirm the PCD.

205/55-16 will reduce the GC by 2 mm.

@ iraghava - Thanks for asking them. How much should the 205/55R16s (both brands) cost?

Michelin's should be around the 5.5k range or so, give or take a few hundred rupees. Yoko no idea yet, should be cheaper for the grey market stuff.

@ vid6639 - I did find the V6's alloys. But, they were already 15k kms old. In Calcutta, there are very few V6s to start with. And, most run on stock rims.

205/55-16 will reduce the GC by 2 mm

This is a bad news.
Then, should I stick to 65 profile on the stock rims?
