Hey,

Nice car you got there. Was a pleasure to see her in action at the Rally.
Saw her the other day near Shalby. Would love to see her up close and personal.

Regards,

Divya Bhaskar did publish a news item on the Ahmedabad rally.
Here is the Chevy, pillarless. Hope she is a V-8.
The Lincoln behind, was it ever a junked car now restored? Would like to know her past.

Cheers harit

I noticed this '59 Impala being referred to by various names in the two Gujarat V&CCC rally by other members, including Town & Country, probably because of the aftermarket badge on it! Well, correctly this is called the Impala Hardtop Sport Sedan (the large wraparound rear screen being the sign of the Sports, including the Sport Coupe although the design and rake are different between the two) and if I'm not mistaken every Sport model only featured a V-8, but in two different sizes (cc).

The blue Lincoln Conti looks like a car that was in Delhi some time back. Does she sport a beige vinyl top (and the trademark porthole on the C-pillar) ? If the same car, well, I'll stay mum on the car's papers!!

No NO. i shall not insist on driving her or even being driven in one. Seeing it in action and up close is all an enthu like me wld wish for. Infact few weeks ago i even saw you in your other car near Shalby. So i assume you live in that neighbourhood only.

Hope to bumb into you sometime. Enfield or Punto with number 5003 flashing lights at you would be me

Re: Making Of the Gujarat Vintage And Classic Car Club. EDIT : 1st event Report & PIC

In the September 2012 issue of Auto India there ia an article on the inaugural GVCCC (Gujrat Vintage and Classic Car Club rally) event held a few months ago.
Gujrat appears to be rocking for vintage and classic car lovers, with the recent announcement of a rally to be held from Mumbai to Rajkot, distance to be covered in a day. Wonder if GVCCC will be involved in the logistics.
A long distance rally yet to be held is the Rolls-Royce drive to Kohlapur to commemorate 100 years of Rolls Royce, announced by VCCCI a few years ago. So far the long rallies held were to Khandala, Pune, Mahableshwar, and all cars don't make it on their own. Once there was a rally right upto Jaipur.

Cheers to long distance rallies, maybe a good opportunity to have thoughts about rallies joining up with local events all over India.

Cheers harit

House of Aman Presents Ahmedabad Heritage Car Show 2012

Dear Vintage Car Enthusiast,
Subject: Invitation to ‘THE HOUSE OF AMAN’ - Ahmedabad Heritage Car Show 2012.
We believe vintage cars/motorcycles reflect the culture and technology of the period in which they were manufactured. This makes them valuable and hence restoring, preserving and maintaining them as part of the heritage for posterity becomes crucial.
The Gujarat Vintage and Classic Car Club was formed this year by a group of vintage car enthusiasts. The core objective of the club is to promote awareness and interest in these rare master pieces, thereby ensuring that the cars and motorcycles are preserved and used.
You will recall that the GVCCC had organized a Vintage Car Rally in Mid April this year. We had a few thousand people who came in the early morning to see these rare cars and were standing along the way to see and cheer the cars as they passed by. The event received a great response.

This has inspired our Club Members to believe that Vintage and Classic Cars are an integral part of our heritage that we need to preserve and share. We at GVCCC have great pleasure in announcing ‘The Ahmedabad Heritage Car Show’ Presented by House of Aman on the 23rd December 2012.
On 24th November 2012, a few Members of GVCCC met at The House of Aman to celebrate the Ahmedabad Heritage Week and explore the possibility of how vintage cars could be a part of this celebration. During the meeting it was unanimously agreed that an event like a HERITAGE CAR SHOW would strengthen the initiative of the Ahmedabad Heritage Cell to promote Heritage of the City. We are extremely thankful and happy to share that Mr. Hemesh Patel (Munnabhai) of House of Aman which has the most prestigious Aakash, Aman and Chandni Party Plots, agreed to Host the Heritage Car Show. Mr. Patel has conveyed this as a gesture to support the cause of Ahmedabad Heritage and the people of Gujarat who have patronized his party plots.
This is indeed a great opportunity for us enthusiasts to reciprocate this valuable gesture by preparing our cars and motorcycles and participating in this event which is likely to be attended by thousands of car lovers. We seek your support and hope to have more than 50 cars and over a dozen motorcycles.
The vehicles will be displayed at THE AAKASH PARTY PLOT- one of the biggest and beautifully landscaped venues in Gujarat. Each car will have adequate security and will be provided with necessary barricades for its safety. However, it is advisable for members to also take care of their cars during the show.
Participants are requested to confirm their entries by 10th December 2012 along with details as per the attached form and a high resolution photograph for press coverage.

Program of Event as follows:
1. Participants are required to have their cars/ motorcycles reach the venue by 10:00 A.M. on the 22nd December 2012.
2. (Strictly on Invitation) Networking and Exclusive Dinner of Car/Motorcycle Owners along with select Invitees,VIP’s and Press - 7:00 P.M. onwards on 22nd December 2012 at Aakash Party Plot against the Backdrop of the Vintage Beauties.
3. The House of Aman – Ahmedabad Heritage Car Show opens for all car lovers from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on the 23rd December 2012.
