Strange...Im sure I would have caught these ads...oh well, if you dig up the issue let me know. I assume you speak of the XK 120? There were 3-4 later jags in the collection as well.

I dont remember which bikes he had, but I distinctly remember a Velocette LE, which is sold. Currently an early Villiers, 54 Triumph and a 70s Yamaha are scattered around.

The car collection is owned by a buinessman of Pune whos also a friend of Karlosdeville. One distinguished phone call and we were in business. We were escorted to his underground parking where a few of his beauties were parked away from prying public eyes. This is what we saw parked in a wet, damp and slightly flodded basement. Not exactly flodded but some parts of the basement we chose not to wander into, owing to the shoe deep, water accumulated there. I shudder to think what would happen if the area gets flodded. Well anyways, to each, his own but im sure the collecter knows what hes doing. What we got was a visual treat which I would like to share with all of you.

The Lincoln Continental previously owned by the Pope, which he gifted to Mother Theresa. Some blessed car this is. This was then sold to someone who sold it to the present owner. Shes a convertible with a factory built power soft top and in Mint condition. See MoralFibre posing next to the car in the pic

The Lincoln's spanking interiors

Iraghava's most wanted car, A Dodge Charger. Sorry could'nt get the front pics due to the water accumulated there, as you can see.

Two of my favourites, a Citroen Traction Avant and a VW Karmann Ghia Hard Top.
The Traction Avant six cylinder was a great car and in 1954, came with hydro pneumatic suspension, a mixture of liquid and gas and was known as the Queen of the Road.

The Pristine dashes of both the beauties

More follows....
Can someone repost them please ?

the cars are housed in the basement of ramesh thakkers office building, in whats commonly reffered to as the "metro museum"...

this is his rare 1937 adler trumph junior...adler is the german word for eagle, which explains their logo...

this is his 50s desoto

1970 VW Karmann Ghia...being a cabrio, this is quite a rarity...

1964 lincoln continental, especially imported to india for the pope during his visit...it was gifted to mother teresa, who then raffled the car, passing through many illustrious owners, finally landing in the thakker stables decades ago...the car still sports stock interiors...

I do remember his Mark 5 cabrio, yes, it was West Bengal registered. When I had seen it, it was ivory colour, and looked very good. It was sold a long time back, no idea what became of it.

Some great shots of the museum can be found here, including pics of the Porsche, 30s Buick Limo and 50s sedan, not present earlier on the forum. Also pics of Indrojit's Jaguar.

If you go through the whole album you will also see a Dodge Kingsway, an Alfa, an Adler Trumpf (Junior?) and a BMU regd. Mk 7 Jaguar, all of which have been seen recently in Bangalore rallies, spruced up.

One Rolls (silver) is now in Bombay, and so is the Porsche I'm told.

Hey Karl.

Would love to see the entire album but that Flicker website is blocked in the UAE. Is it possible to post alll the pictures in a new thread devoted to that collection.

Also that Buick is very interesting and with an AP plate. Wondering if you can shed more light on its history?

I believe that this Buick did indeed come from Hyderabad. Was it red in colour? I was given a photo long ago, this was end 1980's. Then heard that she came to Pune. You really need to check with oldtime brokers.

Cheers harit

BTW, almost all cars have been moved on, even the Alfa. This Buick went to a collection in South long ago, among the first sold.
