Regarding 5,00 5.25 X 16 tyres, yes I believe MRF have the moulds and make it only for Export. I was in touch with their Sales Manager who indicated that they are not to sell these tyres in the local market.
I believe in some markets in the North local brands of 5.50 X 16 tyres are available. Alternatively you could buy a 5.50 X 16 tractor front ribbed tyre, shave off the ribs and get it retreaded with normal road tread.
Please check up the clearances on the mudguards as well as when in full turn before you venture into doing this.

RG, Thanks. No that was not my Ford GPW which was featured in 'The Hindu ' last week . Mine came sometime last year. You can see quite a few detailed pictures of my GPW and all its fittings including a rare Hull M3 compass in " Jeep Thrills India " (incidentally I am one of its founders.see write up about JeepThrills in Economic Times Madras Plus 20th June) , see in the menu, under news- 'Jeeper and his Jeep '. Yes, it is one of the most original "script" 1942 GPW, with all original fittings like lube chart holder, Fire extinguisher, First aid box, whip antenna, Radio suppression box, oil can holder, foot start etc. Since you are in Chennai, you are always welcome. You can see my scale model collections of around 200 classic and vintage vehicles too.

As I had mentioned earlier, I am a total vintage vehicles and scale model buff. Jeeps are my special passion. Apart from the GPW, I also had a 3B,
which was my daily transport to work and back for more than a decade.
(You can see it in 'The CJ3B Page " (search in google, its a Canadian site for the 3B see under 'Jeeps in India'). The GPW has been with me for quite a while. Originally, belonged to a nawab in UP who was using it for shikar.
The '43 Bantam T3 Trailer was acquired by me later. I have quite a lot of material on the Jeep and what over the years had been taken off from the GPW before I got it, I acquired and had it put back. I have gone into a lot of detail to make it as original as possible without any extras which did not come with it.

Traction Avant

Awesome collection Dussey. I'm a scale model buff too, would love to come and see your collection sometime.
By the way, wasn't it your Traction Avant that was featured in the Business Standard Motoring some time back ? I know two others in Mumbai who own Tractions, and I myself am a Citroen fan. Hope to acquire a Citroen of any vintage at some point in life !!

You are right. My Traction Avant was featured in BS Motoring in Oct 2005.
The Sept 2005 issue featured my 1934 Austin 7 AAK Tourer and 1946 Morris 8 Series ' E' cut door tourer. My current project is a 1938 Mercedes Benz Type 170V Sedan and a 1946 Ford Thames Utelicon Estate van being restored in Bangalore apart from a 250cc C-11 BSA ,a 1954 DKW-AutoUnion RT200, and a Jawa pionr 50cc 1958 Motorcycles.
You are welcome to see my scale models too, around 200 of them in all scales mainly Classic & Vintage.

Hi Girish, Congrats on your Vespa and the Bobby. The Vespa appears
to be a neat piece. Give it a nice colour to make it attractive. All the best.

Any classic White two tone combination. White With Red like Sidmans Lamby or White with Blue. BUT, be sure to put an italian Flag sticker on the front.
