Our Willys used to be
MHN 2191. Used to tour all over the country in her heydays, she did.

Not just Amar Akbar, but also in Don and a couple more.
From the film Mazaaq (1975), the hero Vinod Mehra (sadly passed away in 1990 succumbing to a heart attack at age 40) is seen with his antics in the Marine Drive, Flora Fountain and nearby areas. Music is by R.D. Burman and its Rafi Sahab who has sung the song. Sadly, all the three named here have passed away at relatively young ages ( Rafi Sahab 56, RDB 55) succumbing to heart attacks.
The traffic scene from 1975 has a few of the older imports (a Merc fintail, a VW Beetle,a Chrysler Fluid Drive and a Ford Zephyr with some more that I could have missed). The Fiats/ Premiers, Ambassadors and a Herald are also seen at their prime.

Indeed. Notably an early 1100D, going by the rare grille. (FINTAIL, for you esp.! :D )
But what caught my attention all the more was this police jeep- looks like an imported CJ 6 (long wheelbase?)

Were any of these actually used by any of the forces?

Those of you who remember the silent movie "Pushpak" from the 80s, starring Kamal Haasan and Amla, a few imported LHD wheels seen in it: |
I have seen that fintail 3131 in Bombay, in black.

Got to check out the engine?
This car was also in Amar Akbar Anthony . If not mistaken Pran uses it for a scene
Does this car survive ?
Cheers
Saw a vintage Benz convertible in a song from the Tamil film 'Annai'. Early 60s' Chennai can be seen. The car looks beautiful !
Some other interesting cars too visible. A youtube video of the same is here .

The Mercedes 170V is just beauty
personified, and I mean....really! :D
The two tone colour scheme looks rather interesting, of course. The fact that it is a convertible....Ah! Sheer beauty! The car sems doctor owned, going by the sticker on the windscreen. Interestingly, she is RHD.
And as regards to the scenes of Madras of the yesteryears- Just look at the Pennant taxies buzzing around, and also the Morris taxies. The Merc bus, and the various Plymouth's are just the icing on the cake. I know someone who will be very happy to see this.
And the Standard Vanguard! Madras must've been pretty
standard those days, don't you think? (Pun intended! :D)
A similar 170V (not a convertible, although the roof is
interesting), exists in Bombay, owned by BHPian Speedy.

'remember sharing this song myself here years ago. Good to see it here again! :)
Someone had even commented how clean Madras roads were back then!
I particularly like this song too, mainly for the numerous Standard cars seen throughout the song- especially the Pennant and Super 10 taxis! And a couple o Heralds as well! Those were the days!

I think that is a tax disc, and not a doctor's sticker.
Okay- this one isn't from an old Bollywood movie, but from a new production by Disney India. AFAIK- The car will be used as a part of a weekly serial.
Ladies & Gentlemen,
GJA 7347 is seen here as
M3 C2 7347. (:uncontrol)

The defining moment: As
GJA 7347:
And- under fake plates in this production- as
M3 C2 7347.
Notice the similar number font?
The car's inability to start (and ability to stall, as well) in the video- shows pretty much what we classic car lovers dread. And do I see the
pro petrol camp grinning, as this dieselized Dodge
sputters to a halt?
Petrol rulez! :D Credits to the GJA pic: Kasli.
