From another 60s movie- AAYE DIN BAHAR KE. Incidentally, I had watched this movie on TV earlier years ago, but this was the first time I noticed the Herald in it! :) The regn. seems WGU? Any idea where in WB it would've been from?

I recently watched the Bollywood flick, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshi". While the movie is a little slow but it shows some period localities of Kolkata and a slew of lovingly kept vintage cars. I am sure anybody with a slightest love for vintages, would love watching the movie again and again.

The lovely Jaguar Mark IV is a prime example of the tasteful cars in the entire movie !

Another 80s movie - YUDH with a few classics. And again, 60s Yank tanks used as bad guys' steeds of destruction! Incidentally, the night scenes with the red Impala seems to have been shot in the South Bombay/Fort area? (one of my favourites! :) )

Some nice cars in the movie. The Chevy was used by Dev Anand in Jewel Thief, it was not his car but must have been hired out. The Rambler is a nice car, there used to be an STC car plying on Nepean Sea Road, regularly driven by a lady. It was ex-Polish consulate.

This Mustang was indeed light green and lying in that parking lot in film city aling with another engineless Mustang, and a 1971 Mustang also without engine. There was a 1st gen Camaro, any many more like VW vans lying around. This Mustang had the roof cut and it was lying in the godown. The other Mustang had nice alloy rims and these were partly concreted. At least the Mustang survived.

The Ponton is a sad story, found in a godown, very original, but banged up in the movie. The damaged car is lying in Kolkata and a restorer is trying to buy it.

The car probably survives in Rajasthan, where it has been identified as a 1938 PB, making it pretty rare. ....Thanks to Stanher for directing me to the movie.

This MG PB had lost its engine. It was lying at the Kurla weighbridge and was picked up from there in a lot of 4 cars. It was sold on. The engine was from a Herald.

Indeed the Mercedes Bus was imported. It belonged to Air India, there were at least 2 of them and they also had this smaller bus 319 which was lying around in Khar. Solver and red busses, nice rounded shape.

That is not a judge, but we would still collect this car if it had survived. In the last frame is a Toyota Corona. These were extremely popular and brought into India in huge numbers by embassies, particularly east block countries. And many took their car back home with them.
I have seen so many cars in Chor Bazar which came there for braking after having blasted in movies. A Studebaker Lark of around 1962 was blasted, sacrilege. The yellowish Buick may be now in Pune.

Recently Shashi Kapoor was in the news for winning an award, here is an old still with him on a scooter.

And a *few* more assorted cars of the time can be seen in parts of the same movie! :)

Incidentally, is that statue the "Khada Parsi" one?

The car on the left in the last photo looks like a 1950-ish Lanchester (LD10 ?)

The first shots of the impala convertible have been shot in Mahableshwar. The lake though very much different today is a dead giveaway

I initially thought Ford Pilot, but you are right. Wonder if any survive in India.

A lovely '59 chevy from the movie "PAISA YA PYAR" circa 1969 I think.

Nothing else of interest I could find in the movie.

From the movie DIL AUR MOHABBAT, 1968.
Any idea what the Black stationwagon in one of the aerial view pics is? Seems to be a 3-door- Opel?

Note how the Lambretta changes its hue in the course of the movie! :D

Also most of the buildings at Marine drive in the scooter riding scenes still exist! :)
