Some nice cars, including a lovely early (around 1961) Standard Herald mk1 with the handle on the bonnet, in a 1967 movie- FARZ. As with most Bollywood movies, the Herald and the Falcon keep changing back and forth between scenes if you notice! :)
And so do the locations from what I notice- the Herald with black wheels and whitewalls seems to have been shot in Madras, as that's where the studio for this movie was mentioned to have been.
Incidentally, this movie was a remake of a Telugu movie, probably earlier the same year. Will post pics. from it later (as I don't want to clutter one post with too many pics.!)

Is the bus a Fargo?

The registration number "MRT" is filmy and has been created to give it a Bombayish touch. This could have been a taxi series (not very sure), but there were no private cars with this kinda series.

The bus is difficult to label as a "Fargo" or any other brand. There were no old buses with such a frontal look . It looks like a copy of the older Leyland Comet (1960's) front. The entire body including the front portion seems to have been fabricated by some body builder - those who made such bus/ truck bodies from the chassis.

From the movie "CHETNA" (1970-71)
The Fiat 1100D's an early model (1964-65) going by the front grille. But hubcaps completely corroded already then?!

Even the chrome bits on the imported Fiat 1500 weren't spared!

Part of the movie seems to have been shot in Poona, circa 1971.

Note the MHH and MHO registered vehicles. :)

Note the presence of the FIAT Topolino, and of course- the Esso fuel bunk in the background in one of the pics.

Esso actually had a presence in India in the early 'Seventies. Now, of course, Esso is nowhere to be seen in India.

Hi.
Earlier Esso was Stanvac (Standard Vaccum). Due competitive laws in USA it(Stanvac) had to split. In India we had Esso and a different name in some other countries.Within a day or two all signboards were changed. Subsequently it was nationalised.

PS: Mods if this post is OT please delete. Sorry for the trouble.
PPS: The information is from my memory and not googled :)

Happened to know (from a friend- Dr. Avinash Gujarati) about this movie I hadn't watched before- PYAASI SHAM (1968), featuring this nice but slightly modified Standard Herald mk1 driven by Sunil Dutt. Can also be seen in this song from the same movie:

And of course quite a few other nice cars as well in the movie! :D

Any idea what make the Air-India van is? Thought twas a Standard 20 at first but the roofline is too low.

Delhi, 1963.

Movie tickets were Re 1/- to Rs.4/-

Stanher/Travancore/Karlos/Vinay etc.
Hi. Great to see you regularly posting on this thread.
AFAIR the AI van was Commerz. I do not remember whether it was Standard 20 or not. Just cant be sure.
Travancore I am surprised that The Days of Wine and Roses was tax free. AFAIR it was a romantic comedy starring Jack Lemon and Eva Marie Saint and there was no reason for that. Will check the story line on a different site after I log out.
Regards
PS: Oops. My memory failed. It was Lee Remick and not Eva Marie .
The synopsis from a movie website: An alcoholic falls in love with and gets married to a young woman, whom he systematically addicts to booze so they can share his "passion" together.

From the film Safar (1970) - it is a studio shot where we see some ol' beauties being driven in intermittent scenes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T6BflXhcvM

From the film Parichay (1973) - a Chevrolet Belvedere DLI 2444 is seen intermittently during the song

I believe we need to only post old films keeping in mind that the thread is entitled "Old Bollywood --------Old Cars" to keep the thread's sanctity.

And that car would've been this one!

And of course, quite a number of other cars to be seen in them, the most remembered would be this red Badal, which appears in one of the songs from this movie. The 1960 Impala's fate sure is sad! :(

From the movie "HUM SAB USTAD HAIN (1965)"

Nothing much to be seen in it though apart from the '61 Chevy Impala 4-door.

Any idea what the bike MRX 1970 is- BSA?
